Trump is losing it, and he can’t even hide it anymore

For the second day in a row, the President of the United States spent his day at the golf course. And while the news broke that America was running dangerously low on critical munitions, and one of our oldest allies publicly compared our human rights record to authoritarian regimes, he spent the hours in between rounds posting dozens of increasingly deranged messages on Truth Social. He shared an image of himself seizing Iranian oil tankers seven times, cast himself as a “Cosmic Commander” conquering outer space, depicted himself as a Founding Father, and posted a fake movie poster of himself in a red cape time-traveling to save George Washington. He declared himself “Guardian of the world,” even though he is the one dropping bombs, kidnapping a country’s leader, and starting a war. These did not come from a troll account or a child with a phone. They came from the verified account of the man who holds the most powerful office on earth.

But it is not just what he posted. It is when. Because while he was posting images of himself winning the war, the reporting revealed we cannot sustain it. The New York Times reported the president held back from a wider offensive because we are running out of resources, with his own Joint Chiefs chairman warning it would dangerously deplete the interceptors our forces rely on to defend themselves. Even more alarming, NBC reported that American commanders in the region are now choosing which incoming Iranian missiles to shoot down and which to let hit the ground, rationing air defenses because they don’t have the reserves to stop them all. We have used nearly half our Patriot interceptors, each costing $4 million, to shoot down drones that cost tens of thousands. And the true cost is measured in lives: 18 service members killed, more than 450 wounded, with the Pentagon quietly trying to lower the death toll before backlash forced the names to be restored.

The desperation to hide all this was on full display when the administration sent Mike Waltz to Meet the Press, where he first admitted the stockpiles were depleted, then reversed himself minutes later and said anyone leaking it “deserves to be in jail.” Meanwhile, the world is watching in horror. At the UN, 144 nations reaffirmed the human rights commissioner. The United States was one of only ten to vote no, alongside Russia. And France, our ally since before this country could stand on its own, re-shared a message: “The US used to be a beacon of human rights. Not anymore,” ending with the hashtag AmericaAlone. His approval sits near the lowest of his term, voters favor Democrats by the widest margin since 2018, and for the first time, more Americans name the threat to democracy as the country’s greatest issue. We have 100 days. And this is our fight to take the country back.

We are living through a pivotal moment for our country, and my goal is to reach as many people as possible with clear, factual information about what is happening. The more people who understand what is unfolding, the better our chances of pushing back against chaos, cruelty, and corruption ahead of the midterms.
