Trump’s new POLICE STATE program urges you to turn in your neighbors to get rich

Just after 2:08 this afternoon, Donald Trump sat behind the Resolute Desk and threatened a reporter who was asking questions he did not want to answer. He told Andrew Feinberg that he had “better be careful.” As ugly as that was, the announcement he had just made was even more dangerous. Standing with his loyalists behind him, he promised that Americans could become rich by turning other people in through his Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program. Then he told us who would decide whether those people deserved the money: Donald Trump. He would be the arbitrator. He would make the determination. We already have the False Claims Act, a law dating back to 1863 that rewards whistleblowers with a share of recovered money. When a reporter pointed that out, he claimed his program was different because the numbers were bigger. When asked whether criminal charges would be required before a payout, he said he did not think so, and JD Vance confirmed that recovering money, rather than a criminal conviction, was the point.

This is how accusations can become punishment. A journalist, activist, or political opponent could find themselves targeted by a report that drains their savings and terrifies their family before anything has been proven in a courtroom. An ally could be protected. Someone whose problem quietly disappears could find that the price of being left alone is loyalty. Trump could even try to reward loyalists under the guise of whistleblower payments. These are the dangers of placing this kind of discretion in the hands of a man who is openly threatening the press. And he is selling it to people who are struggling to make rent, buy groceries, and put gas in the car. He is counting on their desperation to turn them against their neighbors. We have seen where paid informant networks can lead. During the McCarthy years, accusations destroyed lives and careers. The Gestapo depended on ordinary people reporting each other, often out of spite, jealousy, or the hope of getting ahead. Division is a tool of control, and Trump wants us so busy fearing each other that we forget who is doing this to us.

We cannot let his cruelty make us cruel, too. We have to look out for the people beside us and protect those who keep telling the truth, including reporters like Feinberg who refuse to stop asking the questions. There are three tests in front of us: whether we have free and fair elections, whether the people we elect actually get seated, and whether we still have a free press willing to tell us the truth. We can help by getting as many people as possible to vote and supporting the reporting that has not surrendered. Movements built on fear and cruelty do fall. How much damage they do before that happens depends on us. With the ballot box just two weeks away, or sooner through early voting, we have a chance to make our voices heard.

We are living through a pivotal moment for our country, and my goal is to reach as many people as possible with clear, factual information about what is happening. The more people who understand what is unfolding, the better our chances of pushing back against chaos, cruelty, and corruption ahead of the midterms.

Thank you for your continued support. Your paid subscriptions have enabled me to add a video editor and reach more people.

Independent media is under attack. You can make a difference with a $5/month paid subscription. Your support allows me to keep telling the truth about the lies and destruction unfolding in our country, defend myself from constant pressure from MAGA extremists, and ultimately spread the message to more people.

I’m fighting to save our country (before it’s too late).

I’ll see you tomorrow,

Heather
