Trump's in Iran for money. But him walking like that and ignoring questions? He's either very sick or very medicated. Or both.

Cheryl Faye's avatar

He should be ashamed. I doubt he feels shame.

Ms. Reese, what concerns me the most is the lack of outcry about the legality of this action. The War Powers Act allows the President to use the military in the instance of imminent attack. It also requires justification under terms of the Act within 48 hours with a requirement to notify Congress. Unhappiness with a vicious regime is not cause for war. If it is, the war must be authorized by Congress. Similarly, what is the legal basis for the capture of the President of Venezuela? And for the assault on alleged drug shippers? And for the killing of citizens who have protested ICE actions? And for the skipping of due process for illegal aliens? And on and on. Why have we given up on applying the rule of law to this president, and this ruling party?

News and information is so fractured. Many people no longer trust the voice of the patriarchal press because some have been taken over by self-serving oligarchs. News organizations have taken a page from Rupert Murdoch: don't report the objective news, report the sensational story, replete with adjectives and adverbs that highlight and define the news. For God's sake, don't worry about the truth: no one knows anything. Don't worry about impartiality: no one cares. Don't worry about selling the news, no one is buying. Readers and viewers: don't think. Just feel. Make them angry. Make them unable to think straight. Make them believe.

I make exceptions to the above for some big city/medium city newspapers, hanging on, in their quaint way, to the impartiality and unbiased methods of reporting. The list of those which the above describes is longer than the exceptions.

One must diversify their information sources: The Guardian; WSJ; HuffPost; The Hill; AP News, Reuters. Fox News recently printed a slant-free story about something egregious. FOX!! 😲

Hegseth said this morning Iran started the war. The spin to make it look like the Project 2025 cabal is protecting Americans. 🤮

Trump, Netanyahu, and Putin are all in war for the same reasons. To stay in power and out of jail. 3 corrupt, criminal peas in a pod. May they all rot in hell.

Your reporting is SO good. Puts all the puzzle pieces in place. Thank you.

yes, it’s fantastic. Motivated me to subscribe

Lucky all of us! This war according to that conman president eell last just a few weeks. Like putin's in Ukraine. For sure. Inch Allah

DFinch's avatar

You don’t have to have served in the military to take the responsibility of being Commander in Chief seriously, most Presidents have managed but this guy has no clue about anything but self promotion and bigotry.

Katy Bolger's avatar

There is not one ounce of presidential in this president, nor in his family, or his "friends."

Remember that this was done on purpose. It wasn't collateral damage.

8:04 p.m.: Iran

- Number of victims at girls' school rises to 165

The death toll at a girls' school in Iran that Tehran said was hit by an Israeli-American attack has risen to 165. The rescue work has now been completed, the governor of the city of Minab in the south of the country said, according to the Irna news agency. 95 people were also injured in the alleged air raid on the school

Katy Bolger's avatar

How is it collateral damage? I don't know how that applies. Was the school inside a nuclear development facility? I understand the phrase collateral damage, how is this bombing that? I truly do not know. I know children were killed in their school by bombs dropped by an armed forces supported by our taxes. Who did we kill? How can we sleep at night?

Ivy.6677's avatar

I’m certainly not sleeping well

DeeGeePee's avatar

My 2nd sentence says that it wasn't collateral damage.

No one will take responsibility for it. But think about all the Gaza hospitals that were bombed and who was responsible.

Katy Bolger's avatar

Asking the question generally, not of you. The school was supposed to be next to a target but even that is suspicious. And if it is next to a target, couldn't they bomb on s non-school day?

More likely fear of peace, for the leeway it would give his enemies to raise more hell about Epstein.

WOW, Heather, you're connecting the dots like nobody else can or does. Absolutely amazing writing!

IMHO, your #1 priority should be to pull every possible lever to expand your reach and maximize the visibility of your words. Ask every subscriber to post your words everywhere they can. Find a benefactor with deep pockets who believes in what you're saying and who can bankroll a MAJOR expansion. Every American desperately needs to see, hear and think about your output.

Pete Reese's avatar

Thank you Geoff! I agree with you, of course I may be a little biased. We’re pushing to expand Heather’s reach. But you’re right, we need to throw more fuel on the fire.

Geoff Walker's avatar

Pete, I stumbled across something radically different than I've seen before: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1AA1YtPBzM/

This historian puts the concept of Resistance in an entirely different light. I knew essentially nothing about this whole level of American history. Please ensure that Heather sees it.

Heather's historical focus has always been on illustrating the strong parallels between what the current Administration is doing and what previous regimes have done, and her advice to readers has always been to take individual action to resist the federal efforts.

But this historian is emphasing an entirely different kind of Resistance, one at the state level. It's worth some serious thought. California's efforts to date have been tiny baby steps, like the anti-mask law, and the plan to continue setting gas mileage targets. But what if California started declaring entire chunks of federal law (and Supreme Court decisions) invalid? I'm not enough of a political scientist/historian to even phrase the concept properly, but I'd like to put into Heather's back-of-mind and let it roll around a bit. Thanks, Geoff Walker.

What I want to know is when we'll go to war with Russia for it's criminal attack and 4 YEAR war on Ukraine? Those courageous and honorable people led by a TRUE President have been forgotten in all the chaos we have here. And to think he was going to solve that war on DAY ONE.

This is a powerful read. And because of it I have signed up as a paid subscriber. Your words are filled with my own thoughts, though I could never use them as you did. Your ability to convey your feelings and the truth in such a clear manner is excellent. Thank you.

You are one of the very best reporters I have come across since this shitshow started Heather !! You are doing the reporting that all media should be telling us.

You say the wars he’s waging are to distract from the Epstein files. He does things by stealth. He’s a thief in the night. His aim is also to manipulate elections. You have to get him out now before elections disappear, before you lose your collective voices.

Heather, thank you so much for mentioning the other instigators behind Trump‘s various insanities, including, but not limited to: the Federalist Society, the Heritage Foundation, all the related Project 2025 authors, Russell Vought, Steven Miller, Pete Hegseth, Marco Rubio, and others. When Trump is finally out of the picture, all these other people plus more need to be brought before a tribunal for their traitorous behavior to our country and our constitution.
