Trump says Iran is decimated and obliterated. Their military assets shredded. No capacity to fight. The war is (was!) won. Just once (or multiple times) when he states such things, I want some member of the press (or multiple members) to ask: "Sir, if Iran's military is obliterated, unable to fight, then who is shooting at us? Why is the Strait of Hormuz not open?"

Every day I feel slapped in the face by this creature. I have never disrespected someone whom I disagreed with, let alone insulted them or flat out lied to someone with malicious intent. I have never looked at honesty, justice, decency and benevolence as threats, lunacy or evil. Have as much strength and courage as you can muster, if we are given anything in this life, where nothing is guaranteed, it is our responsibility to be the stewards of this miracle planet.

The key to understanding Trump is that he despises everyone, and he enjoys using his power to the fullest. It is literally fun for him to hurt others. So it is natural that normal people are in disbelief at the things Trump does and says.

He is so far from normal that he will likely be a major catalyst for the next version of America. There is no way to continue with the current form of politics.

I hope the nation survives. And I hope people, with good conscience and care, work towards repairing the tears in our Constitution. That we find the weak spots trump et al managed to rip even wider and to thoroughly manipulate to our serious detriment. I hope we can strengthen our laws to prevent another destructive force determined to undo our Founders’ dream. I hope for a restoration to find determination for good, fairness, and honesty.

It is good to be hopeful, but there has to be action. Government wise, there needs to be severe penalties for congressmen and senators who are not following the constitution. So all those Republican members who are allowing Trump to take control of spending and declaring war need to be Put in jail. The consequence has to be very high. There likely also needs to be new rules about how long one can serve in politics.

Action on the part of citizens to attempt to reclaim the republic are likely to include mass demonstrations of at least 3.5% of the population, and probably far higher, including outside the homes of the Republican politicians. Those guys have been convinced by Trump to defy the constitution, so now they need to be convinced some other way to do the right thing again. If you think this is going to work out via an election, you are likely to be disappointed.

The reason Trump started this war was solely to cosplay commander-in-chief. There was no way Trump would finish this year without fully invoking the full might of the presidency.

When people wonder why he started the war, and they give all sorts of reasons, they are all secondary. Getting to play with the giant war machine is Trump‘s goal. Everything else is a secondary detail.

Ms. Reese, this article is dated Thursday, March 26---today---and it posted around 2:30 p.m. EDT. Did all this just happen on March 26? Or is this a repost from Sunday, March 22?

It matters to me because I "share" your articles, and I "Post" them on my Facebook page. I hope that is okay! These are fraught times
