It’s official: It pays to be an insurrectionist

The Department of Justice made it official today. A $1.776 billion fund, paid for with taxpayer money, that could be used to compensate the nearly 1,600 people charged in connection with the January 6th attack on the Capitol, along with anyone who claims they were harmed by what the administration calls “weaponization.” They named it “The President Donald J. Trump Truth and Justice Commission.” The number 1776 was chosen deliberately, branding corruption as patriotism. Congress never voted on it. The money comes from the Treasury’s Judgment Fund, a permanent pool of taxpayer dollars the Justice Department can draw from at will. A five-member commission appointed by Trump’s own former criminal defense attorney will decide who gets paid. The president can remove any member without cause. Audits are optional. And the fund runs through December 15, 2028, conveniently covering both the midterms and the next presidential election.
Until today, if you stormed the Capitol for Donald Trump, you were gambling on a pardon. He delivered those. But pardons came after the fact. They were never guaranteed. As of today, that risk has been replaced with an investment opportunity. If you committed political violence on his behalf in the past, you can file a claim. If you commit it on his behalf between now and 2028, you can file a claim then too. This is not justice. It is a standing infrastructure for rewarding political violence, funded by the very people it was committed against. Senator Ron Wyden called it “one of the most corrupt acts in American political history.” Ninety-three House Democrats filed a brief warning of “corruption unparalleled in American history.” And the legal maneuver that made it possible was designed specifically to bypass a federal judge who had already questioned whether the underlying lawsuit was even legitimate. Trump’s lawyers dismissed the case days before her deadline, using language that said “no judicial analysis is appropriate.” She never got to rule.
But on the same day the federal government created a fund to pay for political violence, a county in Minnesota filed criminal charges against an ICE agent for shooting a man during a raid, with a nationwide warrant issued for his arrest. The states are still fighting. Trump’s approval sits at 37 percent. And the fund itself tells us everything we need to know about where he thinks this is heading. He is not building a reward system for the past. He is building the infrastructure for the next attempt. And he is using our money to do it. November is coming.

Americans need to withhold their tax payments in protest of their money going to insurrectionists.
My first comment was going to be “Crime does pay” under a Trump regime. Not only does it pay, with the pardons you get near presidential immunity and with the millions in cash buy the craziest weapons, report back to Trump for stand back and stand by .
