At 2:50 PM Friday afternoon, the President of the United States completely lost control on camera. While being asked questions for an interview released this morning, Donald Trump lost his temper multiple times. For more than 40 minutes, he told lie after lie while his anger became impossible to hide. And when Trump could no longer tolerate being fact-checked and asked for evidence supporting his many false claims, he ripped off his microphone, stood up and stepped on it while leaning into the journalist's face and continuing to berate her. This was one of the most disastrous interviews of his entire political career. And what happened next confirmed one of my worst fears.

I agree, an extraordinary interview conducted brilliantly by Kirsten Welker. She asked questions with the composure and poise of an orchestral conductor…what she got in return was an untuned bass drum, banging out the same deranged, discordant diatribe. He was ‘Bang to rights’, as we say in England.
Heather, no-one should be surprised about the orange buffoon's behaviour during the interview. He hates being challenged, especially by a female journalist, and when a interview doesn't go the way he wants, he acts like the man child he is and throws a sissy fit. Roll on the November elections!
If we begin to put the last ten years into chapters, the last few, say over the past 14 months, have not ended well, for us, but especially for Twump. Even if you were writing from his whiny perspective, he is a losing man. But if you were a neutral observer and writing just the truth, he is a losing, ugly, nasty, egotistic, cruel, lonely, hateful, stupid man. He is losing every chapter. the entire book will not end well but the foreshadowing is hitting us right and left. Stay awake because yeah, you were right, that was going to happen. Stand up and be counted. Twump's sales are dwindling, his publishers are using cheap paper, his supporters are hiding behind video games and his detractors are holding matches and would like to burn down the entire thing, scatter all the ashes over the desert and start from scratch.

I read for free your forensic analyses of the news of the day. Until I decided to cough up and buy something I was getting for free. A bunch of the other writers on substack too. A drop in the ocean, but without us drops, there ain't much ocean.
This is great but his supporters will still buy his mantra that everyone who questions him is a crook or an extreme Leftist so the focus has to be on catching him off guard so that he continues to shoot himself in the foot again and again. Then more people will begin to see the truth coming from his own lips. But many of those supporters will need it explained so that they experience the pain his decisions are causing them.
Keep going and let’s see if he ever sits opposite a reasonable reporter ever again! If he chickens out then it is you and your fellow Americans doing the hard yards who will have to work harder if his desperate attempts to stay in power are to be revealed to those still in thrall to his lies, deception and distraction.
Time is slipping away from him and he’ll be getting more and more desperate to keep his fantasy world on track and opportunities to trip him up will increase as he is forced into the corner like the rat he is .

I see your point, but also know that his huge ego rules over any sensibility. I'd imagine he thinks he can successfully triumph over any reporter with his bullshit. It's the appearance itself that's important to him - being on camera, spewing nonsense to boost his credibility with his base, reinforcing their feelings that he's the best king.
For me the key question is always "What's your evidence?", and here we have evidence that Trump has no idea what evidence itself is—he replies “All I have to do is look. All I have to do is look.” And when she points out that that is not evidence, he tries to change the subject, attacking her. That is evidence of his insanity. Tick-tock.
Is the such a thing as a decent republican ? If there is they should be the people to appeal to about the media “list” because otherwise anyone putting their head above the parapet with this noisome government has a target on their back and there are enough maniacs in the country to do Trumps biding.

It harkened back to the golden age of journalism, the onetime glory of the New York Times, Washington Post, CBS, NBC, ABC and their staffs. And I was moved deeply when under the insulting invective of a POTUS, she quietly declared, “I am not corrupt”. The art form of journalism at its best is the art form of truth.

As a result of her investigative reporting, Ms Mayer shows clearly who these people are that pull the strings of their puppets: It is a multi-layered group of people who share over-lapping interests, such as, libertarian economic conservatives (low taxes, deregulation) business industrial donors and religious conservatives (especially evangelical groups)
IMHO, Donald Trump shows his anger when a journalist is doing their job properly because it cuts him to the core that, in spite of (once again) being the most important person in the world, he is actually impotent because his decisions are truly not his own.
In the days when he was in charge of his own real estate, casinos, and golf club kingdoms, he was the sole power broker - and paradoxically, now, he cannot wield power in that same way - and it infuriates him.
