You can tell who Trump fears by who he attacks
His newest target
For the second day in a row, the President of the United States held a televised signing from the Oval Office without standing or walking in. As the cameras rolled, the focus shifted away from the policy and onto the man, with his poorly concealed hand bandages, his heavy and groggy voice, and his battle to stay awake as he nodded off throughout the nearly 50-minute appearance. He started the morning threatening to send American ground troops into Iran to seize Kharg Island and its oil, then walked it all back hours later, announcing he had “just made a great settlement of the war.” Meanwhile, on the South Lawn of the White House, crews kept building an enormous structure for the UFC fight he intends to host on his 80th birthday. And the rest of the world was left asking, who exactly is running the country right now?
But the most dangerous thing he did today was aimed at a single man. On Truth Social, the president called sitting Congressman Jamie Raskin “a Loser in Life” and demanded the House “EXPEL THE BUM,” reaching for a constitutional power meant for the gravest betrayals and aiming it at a man whose only offense was holding him accountable under the law. Jamie Raskin is a former constitutional law professor who led the second impeachment while carrying the rawest grief a parent can know, just days after losing his son. He survived January 6th inside the Capitol, and he beat cancer while never missing a vote, sitting through hearings in a head covering through six rounds of chemotherapy. That is the man Trump wants gone. Because people willing to sacrifice for their principles are dangerous to those who have none. And Republicans have already introduced a resolution to expunge both of Trump’s impeachments, to strike them from the record “as if such Articles had never passed,” because they need the historical record to tell a very specific story.
We have seen this sequence before. In Germany in 1933, the first people the regime moved against were not the generals or the judges. They were the elected members of parliament. Today, outside the rebuilt Reichstag in Berlin, 96 slabs of cast iron are displayed, one for each member of parliament the Nazis murdered. First, remove the people who can hold power accountable. Then erase the record. Then rewrite the history while it is still fresh. That is why the attacks on the vote, on free speech, and on the press sit at the center of everything else. The ballot box is the one tool we have left to peacefully undo all the rest. And it only works for as long as it still means something. November is coming.

We are living through a pivotal moment for our country, and my goal is to reach as many people as possible with clear, factual information about what is happening. The more people who understand what is unfolding, the better our chances of pushing back against chaos, cruelty, and corruption ahead of the midterms.

Raskin v The Circus Clown in Chief.
Bruce Springsteen says that “honesty, honor, character, humility, compassion, decency, humanity, morality and true strength” all still matter.
If so, Raskin wins 9-0.
