While the world watched Trump fall apart, something worse was brewing
At his twelfth cabinet meeting, the President of the United States sat slumped forward with his eyes barely open while Rubio and Hegseth tried repeatedly to pull him back from rambling spirals he could not control. When asked whether the economic pain Americans are feeling gave him any urgency to reach a deal on Iran, he lashed out and brought up the midterms on his own, snapping, “I don’t care about the midterms,” before anyone had mentioned them. That reaction told us everything about what is actually consuming him behind closed doors. But the meeting was never the real story. It was the distraction from what his administration is building, while the cameras stayed fixed on a president who could barely keep his eyes open.
WIRED published an investigation based on more than 1,000 pages of unpublished documents from DHS, the FBI, and fusion centers across the country. The government has invented an entirely new category of domestic threat called “anti-tech violent extremism,” a phrase that appears nowhere in any publicly available extremism framework. They created it themselves. And they are already using it to monitor Americans who show up at town halls and budget meetings to object to data centers being built in their neighborhoods. The behaviors flagged as suspicious include photography, observation, and “implied threats.” Taking a picture. Watching. Standing somewhere and paying attention. Civil liberties experts say there is no clear line between what these reports describe and constitutionally protected protest. And that blurring is the entire point. Once a government decides it can label a belief as extremism, the specific belief almost does not matter. Today, it is people who are worried about AI. Tomorrow, it is any issue the government deems unacceptable.
But the Democrats are not waiting for November to start preparing. Congressman Robert Garcia, who would chair the House Oversight Committee if Democrats take the House, said his team is “already preparing and gearing up” with separate teams on Epstein, family corruption, and DHS. Every unanswered document request becomes a subpoena the day the gavel changes hands. And California’s governor announced that the state intends to tax 100 percent of any proceeds from Trump’s $1.776 billion loyalty fund that go to California residents. The president was angry today because his presidency is crashing down around him. His approval keeps sinking. His party keeps fracturing. And the people who plan to hold him accountable are already staffing up for the moment we do our part in November.

Everything is set up for a blue tsunami in November. So why am I so worried? The Dems still have almost 6 months to step on their own ducks and the GOP is going to use every election fuckery trick known to man. This is far from a done deal. And it scares me because if the Republicans stay in power I'm not sure I survive this regime.
