We've left democracy behind

The Trump regime has entered a dangerous new phase of authoritarian consolidation. In just days, it launched a military raid in Venezuela, encouraged U.S. oil companies to move in, and suggested taxpayers cover the costs so private profits are guaranteed. Latin American leaders and the United Nations condemned the move as a violation of sovereignty and a threat to global stability.

At home, the administration gutted the childhood vaccine schedule and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting voted to officially dissolve, cutting off trusted news to millions. These are not isolated events. They follow a global pattern: seize control abroad, silence dissent at home, and break public trust in science, media, and government to lock in power.

I’ll now be sharing video versions of my nightly posts in addition to the written ones. We are living through a pivotal moment for our country, and my goal is to reach as many people as possible with clear, factual information about what is happening. The more people who understand what is unfolding, the better chance we have to push back against chaos, cruelty, and corruption ahead of the midterms.
