Trump's unhinged ramblings are getting worse

After hiding inside the White House all day with no public appearances, the President of the United States emerged for one reason: a gold-plated trophy. The Republican Party created the “America First Award”, handed him a golden eagle statue, and in return got a $37 million fundraiser and an hour-long speech that was more unhinged than anyone in the room expected. He slurred through sentences, bounced between thoughts without finishing any of them, and then accidentally said the quiet part out loud. He told the room he avoids using the word “war” because, in his exact words, “they say if you use the word war that’s maybe not a good thing to do. They don’t like the word war because you’re supposed to get approval.” He knows it’s a war. He knows the Constitution requires congressional authorization. And the very members of Congress whose job it is to authorize war sat there and applauded him for explaining how he’s been sidestepping their authority.

He told donors the economic pain “didn’t matter to me. It’s short term.” He joked about killing heads of state while Iran’s foreign minister said on state television that zero negotiations are happening. He bragged about giving Speaker Mike Johnson a million dollars. And he called two Supreme Court justices he personally appointed people who “sicken me” because they ruled against him on tariffs. Meanwhile, NBC News reported that every day since the war began, Trump has been receiving a two-minute video montage of “stuff blowing up” instead of full intelligence briefings, and his own officials are concerned he is not absorbing the full picture of the war he started.

And buried in all of this, the Department of Justice accidentally handed Congress a prosecution memo revealing that Trump took classified documents on a flight to his golf club in 2022 and may have shown them to passengers. Reportedly, his current White House Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles, was on that flight and witnessed it. One document he retained was so restricted that only six people in the entire government were authorized to view it. Representative Jamie Raskin wrote that if that map was related to our military posture in the Middle East and was shown to any foreign official, it would amount to “an unforgivable betrayal of our men and women in uniform who are currently valiantly fighting in President Trump’s disastrous war against Iran.”
