Trump’s trip to China exposed the corruption in plain sight
When Air Force One touched down in Beijing, the door opened and out walked the President of the United States, followed by his son Eric, his daughter-in-law Lara, Elon Musk with a personal fortune of over $800 billion, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang worth $183 billion, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Also on the flight was filmmaker Brett Ratner, who appears in the Epstein files. Three hundred Chinese children in matching uniforms lined the red carpet waving American and Chinese flags. This was billed as a state visit. Instead, it was a corporate sales call, with the President acting as the closer while the real decisions were made by the billionaires who financed his re-election.
The full delegation included the heads of BlackRock, Blackstone, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Mastercard, Visa, Boeing, Qualcomm, and Meta, among others. Trump introduced them to Xi Jinping as “distinguished representatives from the American business community” who “all respect and value China.” Boeing’s CEO openly told the press he expected the trip to “include some aircraft orders.” Xi told them China’s door would “only open wider.” And Pete Hegseth became the first Secretary of Defense in 54 years to accompany a president on a state visit to China, standing in formation with the billionaires negotiating private deals with the country he is supposed to be preparing the military to deter. To get Rubio into Beijing, China reportedly changed the Chinese transliteration of his name so it wouldn’t match the sanctioned version. They literally laundered his identity to get him through the door.
The American people did not vote for any of these billionaires to negotiate with Xi Jinping. They elected a president expecting him to be surrounded by career diplomats whose loyalty was to the country, not their portfolios. Instead, they got a man who treats the office as his personal company and a regime that treats the country as inventory to be liquidated for the people on his plane. This is what Citizens United built. Sixteen years ago, Justice Kennedy wrote that independent expenditures “do not give rise to corruption or the appearance of corruption.” Sixteen years later, the corruption walks down the steps of Air Force One on television, in broad daylight, in front of three hundred Chinese children waving flags. And Trump’s approval sits at a second-term low. The country sees him for who he is. November is six months away.
