Trump's rambling Squawk Box call raises serious questions
At 8:30 in the morning, with hours left before the ceasefire was set to expire, the President of the United States went on CNBC and said, “I expect to be bombing.” He said he didn’t want to extend the ceasefire because “we don’t have that much time.” Then, as the deadline approached and no deal materialized, he quietly posted on Truth Social that the ceasefire would be extended indefinitely. The bombs he promised would fall would not be falling at all. It was the latest in a pattern so predictable that social media called it: TACO Tuesday, Trump Always Chickens Out. Iran publicly denied requesting the extension. Pakistan said they hadn’t negotiated on their behalf. Trump had made up the framing, gotten caught, and moved on.
And then the Wall Street Journal’s own editorial board, one of the most reliably conservative voices in American media, published a piece titled “The Iranians Take Trump for a Sucker,” laying out how Iran had “swindled” him three times over, each time promising to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and then closing it again to extract more concessions. Trump’s response was to call the author an “IDIOT” and blame Rupert Murdoch personally. On the same CNBC call, he said he would have “won Vietnam very quickly,” a war he dodged five times with fake bone spurs.
But behind the bluster, his administration is cracking from within. Aides kept him out of the Situation Room during the rescue of downed pilots because his presence was making things worse. Three cabinet members have been fired in recent months. Kash Patel is suing The Atlantic over reporting about his drinking. And the leaks keep coming because the fear of staying silent has finally overtaken the fear of him. Meanwhile, Virginia voters approved a redistricting measure expected to deliver four additional Democratic House seats, at a time when only three are needed to take back control. That isn’t symbolic. That is a real shift in power. And it happened because people showed up.

Gee. Who would have thought that a 7,000 year old civilization would bend the knee to a psychotic, delirious old “has been” after he carpet bombed their country not knowing they could strangle a good portion of the world’s oil supply?
