At 5:22 this morning, on International Women's Day, while women around the world were being honored for their contributions, their courage, and their fight for equality, the President of the United States was demanding that Congress make it harder for them to vote.
He posted this on Truth Social:
Please start sorting out paperwork now. Help your neighbours do it. Help your greengrocer do it help your gardener do it. Make sure this present government can take their horrendous bills no further. You have months to sort it out.
Organise get an ID day in your area and make sure you have a lawyer in the group.

They’re a great organization that helps folks get their ID documents so they can vote— including marriage and divorce certificates! You can use them, tell others about them, donate to them (so they can keep helping folks pay for some of the documents), or VOLUNTEER WITH THEM. This isn’t the place to get that advice, look locally for advice. Since this is not been passed, some of it may be somewhat unclear too many. But I think you need to get your birth certificate, your original marriage license, your divorce paperwork if applicable, your second marriage license, and your second divorce paperwork or death certificate if that’s what happened, not to mention having your passport. That’s what she’s talking about, all of the holes you have to fill. And who can say for you what those holes are. Very dependent on the facts of the situation. I’m a lawyer and I wouldn’t want to give you that advice without knowing in detail what your situation is. I’m still trying to figure it out for myself.
I read the bill passed by the House. To register, you need a picture ID and a proof of citizenship. If you have a valid passport, I believe that will satisfy both requirements. But, make sure to check the law that actually passes the House and Senate, if one does. Right now, there do not appear to be enough votes for it to pass the Senate. Hopefully, it won't. Who cares if Trump refuses to sign Senate confirmations of his nominees or another big tax cut?

And of course the Congress should be aggressively mobilized to vote against the bill in the first place. It all takes courage.
The biggest threat to this regime, the puppet in the White House and the snakes behind the scenes, are WOMEN. I never use capitals, but on this day, that word requires to be writ large. Stephen Miller is the unelected script writer behind the scenes. In 2020, Miller appeared on Fox News to argue that an “alternate slate of electors” could ensure Trump’s victory. The disenfranchisement of women, especially women of colour, would shift the balance at the polls. This regime is in panic mode. For Trump to refuse to sign any new legislation, until this undemocratic piece of filth is signed, shows how desperate they are. It is time for mobilisation, for women to fight for their indisputable right to be heard. History tells us, as you rightly point out, this is not new…that determination and resolve is needed again now, more than ever.
He's hiding nothing now, his plans for American and world domination have no filter, he is just spewing forth his deranged wishes. If this "SAVE" act passes we are finished. He doesn't have the votes now and we need to keep it that way. He will continue to turn the screws on Republican Senators to overturn the filibuster and pass it on party lines. It would cause chaos in the election and allow them to either win outright or challenge every result in court and use the turmoil to declare themselves winners. That is their plan. We must stop this from passing! It's the end game.
Does anyone know if the cheaper ($35) passport card would qualify as ID if this law passes? A passport card is for traveling to Canada, Mexico and a few orher places.
Also, this law would also affect MAGAs, so I’m not so sure trump will get the outcome he’s expecting if it passes.
That’s true but don’t rely on advice in the comments of anybody’s column. You need to look for yourself or pay a lawyer. It’s not even law yet but we know enough about it to know it’s very bad. But it’s complicated as Heather explained.

When was the last time one country invaded another and the locals rose up and helped the invader? Not any country in WWII, Not Palestine, not Hungry, not Iraq, not Ukraine. And it certainly won’t happen Iran. Has it ever happened?
And it’s the same with women: invade their space by trying to take away their ability to vote and they are not going to rise up and help you do it.
The Save Act is the most ridiculous bill. Women have a right to vote. They have a right to voice their opinions. The Save Act doesn’t make sense at all. The current President is still obsessed about the 2020 election.
Give me a break. I was raised to respect women. Women have an equal rights. Don’t let the current President take women’s rights.
The Save Act won’t be successful. I think it is a very dumb bill as I ever have heard.
