Trump’s incoherent rambling has reached a DISTURBING new low

At 1:39 in the afternoon, after a nearly 40-minute delay and an unexplained commotion outside the doors, Donald Trump finally walked into the East Room of the White House. The guests raised their phones and cheered. They had come to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, but for the first 23 minutes, they mostly listened to the president talk about himself. He invited them to see his ballroom floor, repeated praise from Xi Jinping, and compared himself to George Washington. Building monuments to himself, he said, was “really like relaxation.” Then he told a room filled mostly with Hispanic people that “only a Hispanic could survive that fall” from the edge of his construction site. The man who was supposed to be honoring them made a racist joke at their expense. He also announced that you are not allowed to talk about women’s beauty, then did exactly that to Rachel Campos-Duffy and her sister. He said it with a smirk. He wanted everyone to know that the rules did not apply to him.

The consequences of that example travel far beyond the White House. Our children and grandchildren are watching powerful people treat women this way without repercussions. I sat watching and taking notes, missing who I was before Trump and imagining a country with a leader focused on making our lives better. It brought me back to junior high, covering a talk about the first Gulf War for the school newspaper. A protest walkout was announced, and I was frightened to attend, even as a student reporter. A teacher helped me understand that sometimes responsibility to others requires pushing through fear and following your conscience. He told me to remember that feeling, write about it, and never let it go.

I think about that lesson now, when so many people feel overwhelmed and want to walk away. We are still the people who once believed we could change the world. We can see what is happening, and every time we speak out, we take a stand against it. There are people preparing for accountability, too. Robert Garcia said the senior leadership of the House Oversight Committee had spent the last two days “planning out the future of our investigations and hearings.” A Democratic-controlled Congress could make the remainder of Trump’s presidency look very different. On my daily walks, I see children playing on the beach and a country still filled with promise, people of different backgrounds who came together to form “a more perfect union.” That is what we are fighting for. The day accountability starts can and will come. We have to vote, and then we have to keep participating. Americans are not quitters, and we are not going to start now.

We are living through a pivotal moment for our country, and my goal is to reach as many people as possible with clear, factual information about what is happening. The more people who understand what is unfolding, the better our chances of pushing back against chaos, cruelty, and corruption ahead of the midterms.

Independent media is under attack. You can make a difference with a $5/month paid subscription. Your support allows me to keep telling the truth about the lies and destruction unfolding in our country, defend myself from constant pressure from MAGA extremists, and ultimately spread the message to more people.

I’m fighting to save our country (before it’s too late).

I’ll see you tomorrow,

Heather
