Trump's frequent disappearances are a sign of something much bigger
The President of the United States disappeared from public view on a day when his own schedule listed three separate events, and not a single photograph, video, or statement was released to prove he was present for any of them. Later that evening, a carefully staged video surfaced on Truth Social, showing Trump seated at a desk delivering a flat, rambling tribute to Rush Limbaugh, his hands clasped in a way that appeared designed to conceal the recurring bruising on his right hand. The pattern of vanishing from view, tightly controlled appearances, and rationed public exposure mirrors what we have seen in authoritarian regimes throughout history.
At the same time, the machinery propping up Trump’s image is being used to control what the rest of us are allowed to see. CBS blocked an interview between Stephen Colbert and Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, citing FCC equal-time rules that have never applied to late-night television, rules now being stretched under Trump appointee Brendan Carr’s FCC to silence opposition voices. The interview exploded online with millions of views, proving the suppression was never about fairness but about limiting exposure to credible alternatives.
But the cracks are showing on their side, too. The Department of Homeland Security spokesperson is leaving amid what the Wall Street Journal called “constant chaos,” joining a growing list of officials quietly heading for the exits as the pressure mounts. Whether they are jumping or being pushed, the departures tell us that the people inside this administration can feel the ground shifting beneath them.

I’ll now be sharing video versions of my nightly posts in addition to the written ones. We are living through a pivotal moment for our country, and my goal is to reach as many people as possible with clear, factual information about what is happening. The more people who understand what is unfolding, the better chance we have to push back against chaos, cruelty, and corruption ahead of the midterms.

Independent journalism is under attack. You can make a difference with a $5/month paid subscription. Your support allows me to keep telling the truth about the lies and destruction unfolding in our country, defend myself from constant pressure from MAGA extremists, and ultimately spread the message to more people.
I’m fighting to save our country (before it’s too late).
I’ll see you tomorrow,
