I have left cnn. I am lucky to live in a country that airs Al Jazeera so that is my mainstream go-to. I am now more and more on independent media, where I am finding the people who had the will, left. I admire all of you out there doing the hard yards as we say. It’s not easy, and I support you and subscribe to you . Thank you .

I choose Anthropic. I’m not maga. Claude has felt like the most ethical choice of Ai assistance that helps me do my work, run my business, and supports me with creativity and productivity. It doesn’t write for me. It doesn’t replace my relationships with humans. But it does allow me to do more than I could before, in ways that feel relational and co-creative.

Anthropic is not perfect. Ai is not perfect. Yet I respect the decision they’ve made under extreme pressure from the US govt, and they held firm to their values.

Working with Ai can be relational and ethical. It’s how we approach it and the choices we make - collectively and personally.

Thanks, Heather. It is extremely important for there to be a trusted continuous public record of Trump's physical and mental decline, as a reference source of evidence for those who are working covertly behind the scenes to do something salutary about it.

Drapes. He talked about drapes while members of our armed services are awarded for valor above and beyond the call of duty FOR THEIR COUNTRY. ‘Suckers and losers’ awarded the highest honors by the one person in our country who should be accorded NOTHING but a hole six feet deep.

Re: the hole: Make it deeper and pile large stones on top.

To cut out the smell, too.

Thanks for another excellent report Heather. I will keep sharing it. Much to the chagrin of some of my MAGA relatives on Facebook. 😆 Thanks so much for ALL you do. You're one of my Heroes. ♥️🇺🇸💙

Thank you for another excellent post - though you omitted to say that he said he was thinking of awarding himself the Medal of Honor - if he had I would hope it would burn him like silver on a vampire

Some doctors are saying the rash is shingles and it would have been impossible to cover with make up

As a Brit I’m annoyed he is accusing our Prime Minister of not fully joining in with his illegal war for fear of upsetting our Muslim population - just not true

We all have long memories and following America blindly into war in Blair and Bush era did no one any good in the search for non existent weapons of mass destruction

Keir Starmer the PM used to be head of the CPS - the crown prosecution service the body which weighs if they think a prosecution has enough heft to go before the courts

So he is used to weighing the pros and cons of making a decision

And the fact that the ‘war’ on Iran wasn’t a good idea has been borne out by Iran’s effective (in parts) scatter gun approach to every country in the Middle East - affecting their populations and infrastructure as well as gas and oil supplies to Europe - putting prices up by an immediate 45% - thanks Donald you sociopath

The world has to stick together before he sets it on fire and burns bridges which will take years to rebuild

And just one final point Melania must have good hearing if she heard the pile-drivers all the way from New York

Oh, I do hope it's shingles - it's a very special kind of hell, and while the lesions are open, he spreads it amongst his inner circle!

I loved your comment on Melania’s good hearing!!

Thanks, Heather. You do an essential service reporting from the epicenter on the fire hose of horror coming from the White House and Mar-a-Lago. It is my first read every morning. This one, in which the President shows zero emotion while hearing the sacred story of the courage of the superhero Edmonds who saved the lives of 200 Jewish soldiers facing certain death … WE ARE ALL JEWS here, I find doubly appalling because it reveals he is dangerously dead inside, he gives not a tinker’s cuss, as my father would say, for Jews, for Israel. He cares only for his own ego and naked, tyrannical power as this report so deftly displays.

I am convinced that your reporting will eventually serve as an historical record of these dark and scary times. Thank you for all you do, Heather.

Sherry Gerbi's avatar

As well as the reporting of Heather Cox Richardson, a historian, that’s on Facebook, SubStack & YouTube!

Joe White's avatar

Yes ofc. I read Heather Cox Richardson every day. There are some phenomenal writers on Substack!🙏

I watched this disgraceful display of lunacy..I saw the rash..it’s a common reaction to Alzheimer’s meds. The incoherent rants about the jackhammers and the curtains is further proof that this man is suffering from dementia. He needs to be removed now..he is pushing us closer and closer to the edge every day and soon there will be no coming back. We need action from saner heads NOW.

I was listening to the news (NBC, Hallie Jackson) from the kitchen last night. I heard a familiar but not familiar voice droning and it took me a minute to realize it was the unmistakable sound of Twump. He sounded tired, yes, but also defeated. Like he was a man with nowhere to go but a comfy chair with a dribble cup and a favorite blankie. This may be the worst of it: a senile old man, already a pig, becoming a trapped warthog protecting his muddy, shitty corner. Over in the house, Commander Judy Vance sips his latte and watches out the window as the hog slips further into darkness.

Sherry Gerbi's avatar

I’ve been trying to figure out a good name for JD so yours is a good start but (imo) Commander doesn’t work; it has to be something that represents how quickly he’s able to change positions according to what he thinks will work best in that moment. Perhaps, an opportunist or a political chameleon?

Katy Bolger's avatar

Sherry you can call him whatever you want as long as it's not VP or P. I got the entire name from another person on another comments page and I laughed until I peed (not really). I don't know what the commander part refers to but I like it because it is so fake. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. (The Judy part is so right on though.)

Thank you for including the transcript. Mainstream news only said he pointed to the gold curtains. And I only see a few headlines from mainstream news because I rely on excellent writers like you.

I saw it yesterday on YouTube!

Heather, you are chronicling so much of the Embarrassment-in-Chief’s descent into madness. Sadly, his enabler sycophants only feed his growing narcissism. Keep up your journalistic expose which is so beautifully crafted.
