Trump's amateur tactics sabotage Iran negotiations

When asked what happens if the ceasefire expires tomorrow, the President of the United States said, “Then lots of bombs start going off.” When asked whether Iran would even show up to peace talks his own negotiators were preparing to fly to Pakistan to conduct, he said, “I don’t know.” He doesn’t know if the other side will be at the table. He contradicted his own Energy Secretary on gas prices. He couldn’t answer a question about Jared Kushner’s financial conflicts of interest in the region. And his own officials were privately telling reporters that his Truth Social posts are actively damaging the negotiations, with Iranians saying they “didn’t appreciate him negotiating through social media and making it appear as if they had signed off on issues they hadn’t yet agreed to.”

And then the BBC published a report that should stop everyone in their tracks. They found a consistent pattern of traders placing enormous bets on oil prices just before Trump made major war announcements. Forty-seven minutes before one interview was even made public, someone bet millions that oil would drop, and made millions more when it did. Hours before the ceasefire announcement, traders placed bets estimated at $950 million on falling crude oil prices. The federal agency that oversees this trading has launched a formal probe. And the White House sent an internal email warning its own staff not to use insider information to place bets. They knew it was happening from inside their own walls. Someone in or around this administration appears to have turned this war into a personal ATM.

But while the president was posting “I’m winning a War, BY A LOT” on Truth Social, dozens of veterans walked into the United States Capitol and were arrested protesting this war. Disabled veterans. Military family members. People who know what the word “bombs” actually means. They didn’t go because they thought it would end the war. They went to make a point. Everyday Americans, standing together, refusing to let this be the end of the story.
