Trump Thinks Democratic Voters Are Dumb and Suicidal

“People who vote for Democrats are dumb and suicidal.” This is what the President of the United States shared today on Truth Social.

It was written in a graphic he “retruthed” that showed New York City engulfed in what looked like a nuclear attack, the skyline glowing red, with thick smoke and fire rising over the buildings. The image was labeled “New York City on a very hot day,” which alone was disturbing, given the destruction it portrayed. Below the image, it falsely claimed that Presidents Obama and Biden gave Iran more than $220 billion to develop nuclear weapons that could be used to wipe out five U.S. cities. It continued with even more dangerous lies, saying “U.S. Democrats were going to take away our fossil fuels so millions would freeze and starve to death.” Then it escalated into outright racism, claiming Democrats “wanted to replace you with uneducated Mexicans who would be easier to enslave.”

That last line wasn’t just deeply offensive; it was a racist conspiracy theory. The kind pushed by white nationalists who believe immigration is part of a plot to dilute or replace white Americans. That narrative has already inspired real violence in this country. And now it’s being shared by the President of the United States.

This was a disgusting thing to do, something no other American president would have even considered. The image had one goal: to stir up irrational fear inside a base that’s already been pulled into a cult. And it came from the man who has access to the nuclear codes.

Part of me wants to believe he knows it’s all a lie. That he’s just doing what he always does: manipulate, distract, and provoke. But we also need to consider: what if he actually believes it? As far-fetched as that sounds, this is the same man who rambles incoherently in interviews, who falls asleep on camera during Cabinet meetings, who struggles to form complete thoughts and strings of logic. What if he’s not just dangerous because he’s cruel, but because of impaired cognitive ability? What does it mean for our country either way?

This kind of post spreads division and pushes people closer to violence. Someone could see that and actually believe it. They could think that a nuclear attack is coming, and that they need to act immediately to stop it. And if they believe Democrats are part of some plot to destroy the country, it puts people at risk. Former presidents. Elected officials. Democratic voters. Anyone who doesn’t support Trump. And he knows that, and he shared it anyway.

And yet somehow, even after posting something like that, Trump still has a seat at the table. He still holds power on the world stage. Today, that stage was Mar-a-Lago, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss a “peace deal”. Trump said peace is “getting a lot closer.” But then came the part that showed who he really is. When asked about the unresolved issues, Trump said some of the land is “up for grabs.” As if cities full of people, families, culture, and history could be tossed on the table like poker chips and bargained away.

There is no land “up for grabs.” Every inch of that territory, the parts Trump is so casually willing to give away, is full of Ukrainians. People with homes and families. People who aren’t Russian. They are Ukrainian.

It’s hard to imagine what Zelenskyy must have felt, sitting across from him. Who says something like that, casually suggesting that someone else’s country might be “up for grabs”, just to feel powerful? Because once you pretend the land is negotiable, you don’t have to admit you’re not strong enough to protect it. Trump isn’t a peacebroker. He’s a showman. And this entire moment, dragging Zelenskyy into his gold-covered Florida palace just to perform for the cameras, is one more example of what happens when the wrong man is given real power.

But this isn’t just about Ukraine. This is what happens when a certain way of thinking takes over, that teaches people to turn inward, to stop caring about the rest of the world, and it is now shaping our laws, our global role, and our future. It’s called “America First”. But it’s not about helping Americans. It’s not a real plan. It’s just another Trump Administration scam. But these words work to fool people because they sound familiar. Take care of your own first. Put on your oxygen mask before helping others.

But when it comes to global power, it’s a lie. A comforting, dangerous lie. Pandemics don’t care about borders. Wars don’t stop for immigration paperwork. And when democracies fall, the damage doesn’t stay local, especially when it’s the United States taking the tumble. “America First” turns our focus inward, and in doing so, blinds us to what actually puts us at risk. And that’s the point.

This all reminds me of other leaders throughout history who sold their people the same poisoned idea, that the path to strength was through isolation, exclusion, and domination.

They didn’t all call it “their country first”, but the message was the same.

In Nazi Germany, Adolf Hitler built his ideology on “Germany above all.” It sounded like a promise to bring the country back to greatness. But it was really a setup, blaming outsiders, attacking differences, and turning pain into hate. What started as promises to protect German families ended in war, dictatorship, and genocide.

In Mussolini’s Italy, the phrase was “Believe. Obey. Fight.” He told people to trust the state, never question orders, and fear outsiders. Foreign alliances were threats. Dissent became a crime. Mussolini used drama, speeches, and violence to distract people from the truth, that he had no answers.

And even now, we see it in Hungary, where Viktor Orbán has taken over the media, shut down universities, targeted LGBTQ people, and called his model “illiberal democracy.” His reasoning? Hungary First. Christian values. National identity.

The language changes. But the pattern never does. First, they say they’ll protect you. They talk about pride, tradition, and safety. They say the world is scary, and only they know how to keep you safe. They tell you that outsiders are the problem. That change is dangerous. That questioning them is disloyal. Then they isolate you. From allies. From neighbors. From new ideas. They close the borders, not just between countries, but between people. They make empathy seem weak. They call working together betrayal. They cut off the parts of you that connect to the world, and call it strength.

Then they punish anyone who refuses to fall in line. Teachers. Journalists. Parents. Judges. Businesses. Anyone who asks too many questions or doesn’t salute fast enough becomes the problem. And if they can’t silence you with shame, they’ll try with laws. Or force.

And through it all, they’ll say it’s for your own good. That they’re protecting you. That one day you’ll understand. That this is what patriotism looks like.

And this is all part of Project 2025. They are building a future that depends on people who are too afraid to look outside, too misled to recognize the pattern, and too exhausted to push back. It depends on people who’ve never left their hometown. People who’ve been taught that the rest of the world is weak or evil. People who’ve never seen what peace looks like, or what cooperation can actually build.

Trump doesn’t want a strong country. He wants everyone to fall in line. And that image he shared today wasn’t about safety or national security. It was about fear and control. About pushing people to see anyone who disagrees with him as the enemy. That’s what America First really means now.

And maybe the most upsetting part isn’t even what Trump posted, it’s how many people support it. Seeing regular Americans cheer this on, repost it, and act like it’s normal. It’s not just about him anymore. It’s about the people helping him do this. People who see a post this hateful, this dangerous, and decide that’s fine. That’s the part that hurts. Because they know better. And they still go along with it.

This isn’t politics. This is the President of the United States spreading lies, encouraging fear, and pushing his followers closer to violence. This is propaganda meant to stir up anger and hate and to scare people into believing Democrats are the enemy. And when people start believing that, it becomes dangerous fast.

For those of you outside the U.S. reading this, I know it probably sounds unbelievable. But please know, there are millions of us here who see what’s happening and are trying to stop it. Some people still can’t face the truth, because it’s too overwhelming. Others have just given up. But many of us haven’t. We see how serious this is. And we’re not backing down.

We should have stopped this after January 6th. But we didn’t. And now Trump is more extreme, less stable, and surrounded by people who will do anything to keep him in power.

And my mind is set squarely on the midterms because the people around him know they can’t win fairly. Most Americans don’t want this and will vote accordingly. So they’ll try to make sure the next election is neither free nor fair. They will cast doubt before a single vote is even counted. And we have to be ready for that. Because if they stop us from voting, or find a way to twist the results, we could lose everything.

But I know one thing to be true: most people in this country don’t want this to continue. They don’t want a president who would share a post depicting New York blown up or immigrants blamed for everything. They want safety, stability, and the chance to build a better future. So we can’t sit back. We have to fight for free and fair elections. We have to make sure the truth still matters.

And if seeing all of this left you feeling heartbroken, you’re not alone. If you feel crushed seeing friends and family support this, you’re not wrong to feel that way. It’s a deep kind of pain. But don’t let it stop you. Don’t let it shut you down. If we stay focused and work together, we can take this country back.
