Trump Rewards Russia as They Target American Troops for Iran

The President of the United States stood in the press cabin of Air Force One, gripping the door frame to keep himself upright, hours after watching flag-draped caskets carry American service members across the tarmac at Dover Air Force Base. When a reporter asked if what he witnessed made him think differently about this war, he didn’t pause. He said the war is going “unbelievably. As good as it can be.” He started listing numbers. Planes destroyed. Ships sunk. Missiles wiped out. He tallied the value of war in equipment destroyed rather than lives lost. When asked if he was worried about returning to Dover for more dignified transfers, he said, “I hate to do it, but it’s a part of war, isn’t it? Deaths are a part of war.” Then he called the entire conflict “a minor excursion.”

When asked whether Russia was supporting Iran in this war, Trump said he had no indication of it. That same day, multiple outlets confirmed that Russia has been providing Iran with targeting intelligence to strike American forces, including the locations of U.S. warships. The Trump administration responded by lifting sanctions on Russian oil.
