Trump just handed Putin the one thing he's been dreaming about for 25 years

Whose side is he on?

In the middle of the night, the President of the United States spent 42 minutes posting fake images of himself on Truth Social, including one of his face added to Mount Rushmore next to Lincoln, and another of himself floating shirtless in the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on a gold blow-up chair. He called Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries “low IQ” and a “thug.” This was during an active war he started. And the next evening, on a tarmac in Florida, he was asked why the Pentagon is pulling 5,000 troops from Germany. He shrugged and said, “We’re cutting a lot further than 5,000.”

Those troops are not in Germany as a favor to Europe. Ramstein Air Base is the nerve center from which America projects military power across three continents. The satellite relays for drone operations in the Middle East pass through Ramstein because direct control from the U.S. would be too slow. Right now, during the Iran war that Trump started, Ramstein is actively running his own military operation. He is threatening to gut the base that is executing his own war because Germany’s chancellor said the U.S. appears to have no exit strategy. And the two Republican chairmen of the Armed Services Committees broke from the White House, saying the withdrawal “risks undermining deterrence and sending the wrong signal to Vladimir Putin.”

This is what “America First” actually looks like. We learned at a cost of 405,000 American lives what happens when the balance of power in Europe collapses. Twice in thirty years, it pulled us into a world war. The postwar order was built so our children wouldn’t have to die in another one. Trump is dismantling it from a vacation in Florida. The world is not waiting for us to come to our senses. They are building new systems, new alliances, and new futures without us.
