Rob and Michele Reiner are gone. Trump used their deaths to mock them and glorify himself. No one in his party stoped him or this madness. Tonight I’m not sharing headlines, I’m sharing what it felt like to sit in a restaurant across from the site of an ICE raid, watching people laugh and eat like nothing ever happened. This isn’t just about politics. It’s about what we choose to remember, what we let slide, and why hope, even now, still matters.
Thank you for your analysis and for sharing the feelings of many of us. Trump's disgusting posts about the Reiner's deaths show him for what he is: ignorant, classless, arrogant, narcissistic and a cowardly bully. It is so tempting to avoid him and the news about his administration, but doing so allows him and his authoritarian sycophants to win. We need to take episodes of rest, but return again to the struggle against the fascism that threatens all of us. We can do no less.
agree 100% with you and with what Heather said in the post. we are sick, and sickened, by this. but this is why we MUST stay engaged, and spread the word. not so the MAGAts will change, i believe they have sunk too far into the mud, but so the ones who just dont see what is really going on will see and hopefully stand with us.
I agree that we need to stay engaged and not allow him/them to win by wearing us down, as wearying as this all is. Most of my friends choose to ignore or downplay Trump and what is happening under a "no politics" rule for conversation. They explain this with a "too upsetting" or "nothing we can do" rationale. Sometimes I want to scream into the void, but I'll read your words instead. Thanks!
