Trump is slipping fast and the world is in danger because of it

The President of the United States stood at a podium in the East Room for a Medal of Honor ceremony honoring three American heroes. He struggled to read his teleprompter, spoke in incoherent fragments, and spent more time talking about curtains, construction costs, and a new ballroom than the service members who gave their lives for this country. Six Americans now lie dead from a war he started days ago, and he used a ceremony meant to honor military sacrifice as a stage to ramble about drapes and pile drivers.

Meanwhile, the consequences of his war continue to spiral. France announced it is expanding its nuclear arsenal, with President Macron pointing directly at the United States as the reason, saying the increase was “indispensable” because America can no longer be counted on as a stable partner. A veteran CBS News producer walked out after 46 years rather than comply with directives to aim her reporting at a particular part of the political spectrum. And the post-World War II security architecture that kept the world stable for decades continues to crumble as our allies are left exposed and abandoned.

But resistance is showing up in unexpected places. After the Trump administration blacklisted the AI company Anthropic for refusing to drop safeguards on mass surveillance and autonomous weapons, the American public responded by downloading their app in record numbers, sending it to number one on Apple’s App Store. Americans are voting with their wallets, choosing to move away from companies aligned with the regime and toward ones standing up to it. The chaos is the strategy, but the people are paying attention.
