Trump is losing his grip on America
On Sunday April 12, 2026 in a 35-minute phone interview with Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo, the President of the United States announced a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, rambled about “computerized bullets” and lasers that melt drones, detoured into whether the Gulf of Mexico should have been named “the Gulf of Trump,” and when asked directly whether gas prices would come down before the midterms, said, “I hope so. I mean, I think so. It could be. It could be or the same or maybe a little bit higher.” Gas is at $4.13 a gallon. Oil is near $97 a barrel. And Bartiromo eventually pulled the plug on the interview because he could not stop talking. Later last night, standing on a tarmac in the dark, he attacked the Pope, called NATO allies disappointing, and said Russia being our adversary was “a little ridiculous” before turning around and walking away.
And something has visibly shifted. At UFC 327 in Miami on Saturday, the arena that erupted for him a year ago gave him a muted, mixed reception. Witnesses described booing. Multiple observers said he looked “like he had been crying.” The swagger was gone. His people had to look around for someone to shake hands with. This was his first appearance at a sporting event since the war started, and the room told the story his administration is trying to suppress.
But the biggest story of the day came from Budapest. Viktor Orban, who ruled Hungary for 16 years, lost his election in a landslide and conceded defeat. Turnout was over 77 percent, the highest since the end of Communist rule. The opposition won a supermajority. Five days ago, the Vice President of the United States stood on Orban’s stage and begged Hungarian voters to re-elect him. The full weight of the American government was thrown behind keeping this strongman in power. And the Hungarian people said no. Steve Bannon once called Orban “Trump before Trump.” If the Hungarian people can end 16 years of authoritarian rule through a democratic election, after the courts were weakened and the media was captured, then we can do it too. November is coming.

We are living through a pivotal moment for our country, and my goal is to reach as many people as possible with clear, factual information about what is happening. The more people who understand what is unfolding, the better our chances of pushing back against chaos, cruelty, and corruption ahead of the midterms.

He continues to make a fool of himself and also inflict untold damage on America. He presents himself as the face of America and that’s how many people internationally see him. He is not the face of America, and that needs to made clear. If Congress doesn’t do something to contain him, then we must change the face of Congress. I don’t see how the Republican Party can stand behind this idiocy. He is obviously demented. He has no impulse control and no ability to reason or anticipate the consequences of his actions.
Europe’s leaders are judging America by his behavior. It’s his war, but it’s effecting the global economy, even Europe’s. I can understand their anger and dismissal of him, but someone needs to remind Europe that it was the American entry into WW I that secured the armistice, the primary cause for Hitler, Hitler’s drive toward lebensraum and WW II. It was the lend-lease act and then American entry in WW II that defeated Germany. It was the Marshall Plan that helped Europe recover from the war, but it was in our interest to have a strong Europe. I think now is the time for them to help clean up Trump’s mess, even if it appears to reward him for this mess. It might help strengthen NATO. I think Europe needs to strengthen itself in case we elect another fool. I don’t see how Vance or Rubio recovers from supporting Trump and Orban.
Sending Vance, Kushner, and Witkoff sent an insulting message to Iran. The thrust of their negotiations should have been opening the Strait of Hormuz. That was the most immediate problem, but they focused on nuclear weapons. None of them were serious negotiators. Trump shouldn’t have gone either. It may sound stupid, but I think Obama, Clinton, and Bush would have been a better team, but Trump would never have realized that. How must it have looked for Rubio to be attending a UFC fight instead of joining the negotiating team.
I appreciate your efforts to inform us. I agree that we have a chance to bring about change in the midterms, however I worry about election interference. I wish there would be more attention paid the fact that there have been many investigations, including by Conservative states that have found virtually NO fraud. I believe this information needs to be broadcast and repeated over and over, to counter the false claims of election fraud that have been repeated so often, despite no proof. Again, thanks for your good work. Best wishes Susan Goedde
