Start again! Haha

Hi Heather,

A difficult post from you today. I understand your pain at witnessing the obvious contrast between the statesmanship of Ireland’s Micheál Martin and the disintegrating, shell of a president. However, the old saying of ‘giving them enough rope to hang themselves’ comes to mind. The more the perverted lunatic speaks to America and the world, the more we all see him for what he is. The lies are unravelling. Trump’s lackies are lost and know they are all guilty as hell!

Yes, there is also some solace in the fact that America’s courts and judges are holding their ground…obviously not the dept of justice! Europe and the rest of the world, bar Israel ofc, plainly see the madness and how America is compromised.

Hang on Heather and keep up your excellent work.

Oh dear. As usual the orange one greatly exaggerates the number of illegal immigrants entering Europe. "Millions" means in actual numbers about half a million, although I don't have exact numbers. As for Starmer being no Winston Churchill, one could retort to Trump "you're certainly no FDR either". Well done to Micheal Martin for subtly defending Starmer. I doubt whether the orange one realised he had been challenged. Mr Martin is a true statesman.

I sit here in the safety of Scotland and look back on my 80 years during which I haveoved Europe and America but one huge queston troubles me night and day

Why, in the richedt, most powerful country in the world does no one enforce the law? Why are.Trump and his henchmen not.all im prison, the single measure that would do more to help this troubled world than any other. Don"!t say Trump has immunity. He has none for the events such as Jan 6 or for his countless transgresdiond that were not pary of his notmal official duties. Why???

The malignant narcissist surrounds himself with billionaire sociopaths. Is it any surprise it has turned out this way? We have people like Hasset with his shit-eating grin, and Bessent who talks about people selling 12 or 15 houses for their retirement. These idiots are out of touch with the American people, and their entire thrust is to further the aims of Project 25/26 to make this country a Christofascist hellscape.

Keep your eyes open if you are going to participate in No Kings III. It is not hard to assume that there will be more outside agitators and perhaps a black flag attempt to give the malignant narcissist an opening for repression.

From what I’m reading, they are now openly targeting and arresting anyone they deem ANTIFA and Domestic Terrorists…it’s official so we ALL need to be extra vigilant.

Please keep up vaccinations for your children and defy JFK - in UK we have a huge student outbreak of meningitis 2 students are dead and many others seriously ill.

Getting your children’s jabs done keeps them safe and also protects their class mates.

Amongst the most vile and contemptible acts of the Trump régime have been its attempts to politicise medicine and to appoint charlatans and grifters like RFK Jr and Mehmet to positions overseeing public health.

So sorry I put JFK - not RFK

Forgive me JFK !

Thanks for hanging in there, Heather. When cracks appear in the foundations it means the crackers are trying to escape clear in time of deep damage to come—they have learned something we too are expecting any day now. By persisting you are fulfilling an heroic role here.

I don’t know if this is going to move things along a bit, but there are a few things about Churchill that need bringing to the fore. As a young man he had been a serving officer in a cavalry regiment and had participated in one of the last cavalry charges in modern warfare. He had also escaped from an enemy prisoner of war camp and got back to safety despite having a large price put on his head.He was at times desperately poor and had to write books and newspaper articles just to get by. As to his ancestry he had an American mum and way back in the past he was related to the Duke of Marlborough-but once again no inherited wealth and had to live by his wits. So far as becoming a war leader goes many people thought he was a dangerous lunatic based upon some misguided judgements he made in the First World War. But the fact remains he was a splendid orator and helped maintain the spirit of the British nation during the second world war particularly at the time when we, as a nation, stood alone. On the downside, he was an appalling strategist and had to be kept under tight control by supreme team of military advisors. So when it comes to it, Starmer, it’s not another Winston Churchill and would never claim to be neither is Trump.Just to round things up here’s something to bear,in mind Churchill‘s party suffered a landslide defeat in a general election held just a few months before the end of the Second World War. Now you’ve got the mid-terms which are likely to have the shadow of the present conflict hanging over them.

We will never prevail if we expect perfect from our officials. But as is said, don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Every time I feel like throwing in the towel on this country, I read your latest post encouraging me to "still have hope for America." And because of you, I do. I can't tell you how grateful I am for that. Please keep it up.

Your post today left me a little teary. I imagined you and your daughter, the wind in your hair, laughing and talking on the way to the beach, which is so magical. I think of how it could be, how it has been in the past, when we didn’t wake up every morning worried about what embarrassing or horrible thing the toddler would do today. I thought about a visit Obama made to the UK where he was cheered by 75,000 people in the streets. I think of the soldiers risking, and some losing, their lives for an illegal pointless war which is costing us billions that could be spent on bettering the lives of our people who are suffering greatly.

I, too, am most profoundly disappointed in the enablers. They could remove him today, demonstrate to the rest of the world that he does not represent us, that we see him for who he is and want to hold all of them accountable.

Despite it all, you gave me hope and that is very much appreciated. We are all in this together and I believe we will prevail. I am so grateful to you and the other independent journalists who invest your precious time in reporting the stories that must be told. Thank you.

Once again, thank you for your insights and your calm in the storm. I’m starting to feel that the end to this must be coming soon. I live in hope.

LAW and ORDER. If the Republicans refuse to face the truth and continue to allow this flailing ,failing obviously VERY ILL man to remain in power then the only hope we have is for a steady stream of legal blows to his schemes to chip away at some of the damage he’s done and is trying to do. Roberts and the rest ..including Thomas and Alito ..can clearly see what’s happening and I would bet they want no part in it. The Justice Department lawyers are down to the bottom of the barrel…they’re so inept they’re shooting themselves in the foot with every case..every appeal. Regardless of the political affiliation of the judges , they cannot change the law so he’s going to keep losing. Every time he does a little more breakdown occurs and that’s just what we must have. Erosion..no matter where or how it comes.. is what must happen to rid the country of this disgrace..this is a country built on the rule of law…it’s our only salvation now ..let it prevail and we will have order..we can’t depend on those around him to wake up and do the right thing…they have already shown us they refuse. PUSH ON.

Heather,

I LOVE your writings. THANK YOU!

I also am completely distraught and ANGRY at the Republican Party (the majority) for NOT doing their job and Stopping him and his KKKabinet. If in fact he actually won either election, which I doubt, since EVERY accusation is a truth deflected; Republicans had a chance to end all this on Jan.6, 2021, with trump’s incitement of his insurrection…TREASON!!

I feel like we are being held prisoners by the sycophantic Republicans, filling their pockets with BLOOD MONEY. I know it is a whole corrupt and complicit system, but ultimately we have NO checks and balances.

There are some glimmers of hope, but we can’t wait until November. As Lance Rosen said, “November is NOW!”

Need to plant our apple trees soon. It will be warming up 50-60 degrees soon.

Thank you so much for reporting 💕 and watching DumDum do his usual routine.

Take care

Heather, thank you for this post. And good on you for taking time with your child to reconnect with what really matters in life. Many Americans are struggling with the anxiety and dismay over current events. It's important to take breaks from the seemingly endless bad news and remind ourselves that there are many good people doing important things to help get our country back to a better place. Supporting those who refuse to stand at the sidelines and do nothing are our true heroes now. And we all need to protect our own mental health by taking breaks and hearing positive reports about those heroes. Thanks for doing that in your post.
