This was really hard to watch
It's getting worse
For 44 minutes in the Oval Office, the President of the United States presided over the swearing-in of his new Homeland Security Secretary and turned it into something between a campaign rally and a mob operation. He accidentally called Markwayne Mullin “Mark Twain.” He discovered on camera that the man he personally nominated is Native American, saying, “I didn’t know that, huh? Let me look at you.” His Attorney General botched the oath of office. And then Trump told the room that Iran had given him “a very big present, worth a tremendous amount of money,” and that receiving it convinced him “we’re dealing with the right people.” He described a gift from the country he is actively bombing, where American service members have been killed, like a man who just won an award, not a man presiding over a war.
Iran’s parliamentary speaker denied any ongoing discussions. Iran’s military command said their forces “will not stop until complete victory.” And former CIA Director John Brennan said he “tends to believe Iran more than” Trump. Before the war started, Iranian negotiators had already put a seven-page proposal on the table. The Omani mediator said both sides had made “substantial progress.” Thirty-six hours later, this administration launched its strikes. They chose war over a deal already in motion. And now, after killing thousands and losing 13 Americans, the president is bragging that a nice gift may have changed his mind. Meanwhile, the Pentagon is drawing up orders to deploy up to 3,000 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne to the region. The five-day bombing pause isn’t a ceasefire. It’s a reload.
And just five minutes before Trump posted his announcement halting attacks, someone placed a $1.5 billion bet on S&P 500 futures while simultaneously selling $192 million in oil futures. The trades were four to six times larger than anything else at that time. Senator Chris Murphy called it “mind-blowing corruption.” Donald Trump Jr. sits on the advisory board of Polymarket, where similar suspicious bets appeared before both the Iran strikes and the Venezuela operation. Every time this administration launches a military action, someone who knows what’s coming cashes in before the rest of the world finds out.

I’m sharing video versions of my nightly posts in addition to the written ones. We are living through a pivotal moment for our country, and my goal is to reach as many people as possible with clear, factual information about what is happening. The more people who understand what is unfolding, the better our chances of pushing back against chaos, cruelty, and corruption ahead of the midterms.
Thank you for your continued support. Your paid subscriptions have enabled me to add a video editor and reach more people.
Independent journalism is under attack. You can make a difference with a $5/month paid subscription. Your support allows me to keep telling the truth about the lies and destruction unfolding in our country, defend myself from constant pressure from MAGA extremists, and ultimately spread the message to more people.
I’m fighting to save our country (before it’s too late).
I’ll see you tomorrow,
Heather

As usual, you’ve put things into clear perspective. I’m going to say what I have heard over and over again from my tribe… We are fighting for this country, but we are so unorganized with no clear path and no clear method. The No Kings rallies. Yesterday is a support group, at best. I’m not sure what fighting for democracy looks like for others, and honestly, I’m not exactly sure what it looks like for me in terms of action and safety but I know this without a doubt… Severe damage has been done. And even if we’re allowed midterms, I’m not sure how many years, indeed, generations it will take to undo the damage that Maga has inflicted on this country. Getting rid of this administration is probably the easy part. We’re going to have to live with the absolutely awful people who put us here and who are still rooting for this administration for a very, very long time.
Thank you, Ms. Reese.
