Earlier this morning, the President of the United States sat glassy-eyed and dazed, propped up in his tall leather chair behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office while he did something he believed he had never done before. He called it “a little bit unusual,” downplaying the serious situation that called for such a drastic action on a Saturday morning. Instead of spending the day golfing in Florida, like he does on most other weekends, Donald J. Trump held a last-minute press conference. Surrounded by men, many of whom had spent the last week criticizing the president and his Iran war, calling it “insane” and warning it could lead to “World War III,” he was now seated in front of them for an executive order signing that hid the real reason they were all there: his survival of the most vulnerable time of his presidency.

Although I completely understand the exhaustion people are feeling and that sense of drowning in the daily sewage…it is more important than ever, for Tdump and his back seat drivers to be exposed and the truth to be broadcast far and wide!
Thanks to you and others, Heather, for continually proving that Trump's claim to "control information" is just another grandiose fantasy. Knowledge is power, and truth does conquer all. So what are we waiting for?
We all get whiplash from watching the machinations of these hypocritical cons who will do and say anything to get what they want. Just trust your own eyes and ears..they show us what they are every day…we KNOW they lie ..they cheat..they steal and we KNOW they are not who we want in charge…FOCUS on getting them OUT..keep your eyes on the prize…the mid term results in November…count the days until we can show up in full force and take our country back from the cretins who are stealing it. Stay steady and steadfast..we WILL do it.
I think it’s very nice that they are addressing PTSD treatment for veterans. But I would also like to point out that there are millions of other suffering people with CPTSD, known as complex or childhood PTSD. This is where trauma enters the picture, creating sustained PTSD. It might have come to his attention if he had a capable research arm, They should know these things. MFer.

What a con job this man runs. He is nothing but transparent in his utter criminality. This all feels Sisyphean and the burden is heavier the higher we get. I know that there are others now who see what they could not see before, but 70 million people liked this guy enough to vote for him. Say half of those people are going to vote Republican no matter what, I get that. But the others, the independents, or the newer Republicans, why? The only universal reason among those voters is being convinced that immigrants were the root of all of their problems. I wonder: have their problems decreased as we have deported half a million people. How you doin' America?
You know how your understanding of something evolves over time? I’ve always known Trump was a fraud, an idiot, and utterly unqualified to be President. But with the Iran “excursion”, every malign characteristic of Trump has come into much clearer focus. The shifting justifications for the “excursion”, the changing by the minute status of the negotiations, the brazen lies or, depending on how you perceive it, the utterances totally devoid of any rational thought, the proclamation that he would destroy an entire civilization. All of it has crystallized into the fact that we have a man who is insane just making it up day by day “leading” this country. And the most disgusting part is that all of his shoe shining enablers in his Administration, in Congress, and in the media know how unqualified he is, how dangerous this moment is, yet they continue to operate as if it’s just business as usual. I am truly afraid for what comes next. I could see this situation devolving into a World War 3 if too many of the actors in this fiasco act as irrationally as Trump. At this point we are going to have to rely on the Iranians to be the rational actors and keep this from going off the rails. How completely effed up is that?!
IT is indeed something when we must hope the people who chant Death to America will be our hope of saving Grace!! We should listen more carefully to France and to Spain who came to our defense as we originally freed ourselves from England,! See the Worsely series on the American Revolution on PBS!
Heather, I think you hit the nail on the head on all accounts. But I think most Americans are "on to" Tramp's devious games.
Today, I am going to just be thankful that there will be research into helping veterans with PTSD, etc. I don't know how many former troops nor how many current troops will be dealing with this (that Tramp IS responsible for inflicting on his 'fellow Americans'). But I do know the effects of it on the lives of those who suffer. It is devastating. I hope they will find relief and soon.
We live in such a surreal time right now, it’s almost impossible to wade through the muck. As usual, your breakdown is not only a comfort, but insightful… Exactly what we need right now. With all due respect, I don’t know how we are going to rely on the hope you always mention in your writings. Hope without real and consequential action is just a feeling. We need organized and brave leadership right now. I think so many of us come here for comfort and the sanity you bring to the insanity happening. But how long can we feed our internal psyche before we all understand that real action and smart leadership is the only thing that will bring us to the other side of these dangerous times?

The vote in Hungary gives me hope, but I just watched a Rick Steve's Europe show about Budapest, and realized that Hungary had been under communist rule twice before--first under Russia, then under Germany, so Hungary is used to overcoming autocrats. The U.S. really isn't. We have taken our democracy for granted and we're now paying the price for it. At least 70+% of us must come together to start to turn the tide in November 2026 and then throw out this autocratic regime in November 2028 and to never allow an autocrat in the White House ever again!
