At 9:16 this morning, the President of the United States and the journalists traveling with him left his personal residence at Mar-a-Lago for an undisclosed location. It wasn’t until they arrived at his personal golf club in Palm Beach, Trump International, that the destination was finally officially confirmed. Starting during his time socializing and continuing over the course of the day, Donald Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social well over 100 times, with endorsements for many of his MAGA Republican candidates, but he also managed to sneak in some truly despicable and deeply racist posts that no president of the United States should ever think, let alone share online for the entire world to see.
Maybe not the worst thing that he posted, but definitely the most delusional, was a fake image of Donald Trump standing beside Winston Churchill, who was telling him, “Donald, you’re doing a Superb Job.” Behind them were images of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, as if Donald Trump is taking his rightful place among some of the most respected leaders in history, who would naturally approve of him. Beyond the absurdity of this is the fact that Trump chose a man who helped lead Britain through World War II and stood against Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany, while Trump himself has repeatedly praised authoritarian strongmen. Now, more than 80 years later, the sitting President of the United States is sharing a fabricated image of Churchill congratulating him on what a wonderful job he’s doing.
We have a president who is supposed to be leading the most powerful country in the world, yet he has to manufacture approval from dead leaders because he can’t earn it from living ones. His delusions alone should disqualify him from holding power, as should his inability to distinguish between what is real and what he has conjured up in his own mind to make himself feel special.
He also shared a post titled “Life Before Obama,” with a list of things that supposedly didn’t exist before Barack Obama became president, including ISIS, Black Lives Matter, Antifa, and what he is calling the “War on Police.” The President of the United States is saying that somehow Barack Obama is responsible for all of these things. That the existence of a movement demanding basic civil rights is something to blame on a Black president. The message is that America was somehow a better country before we elected our first Black president, and that everything that came afterward, including Americans standing up against racism, was evidence of how far our country had fallen. This goes far beyond revisionist history. It’s racist propaganda designed to tell his base exactly who he thinks the enemy is: the people who had the courage to say that black lives mattered, too. He posted it right before the midterm elections as a reminder to his voters of who they should fear and blame for everything they’ve been told is wrong with this country.
He also posted an image of Greenland, home to more than 56,000 people, depicting the entire island as a massive American aircraft carrier with fighter jets lined up across its surface, an American flag planted on top, and the words “Welcome to Greenland” plastered below. This is a place whose people and political leaders have made it clear, repeatedly and firmly, that they are not for sale. And still, even after an agreement expanding America’s military access to Greenland while recognizing its sovereignty was reached, Donald Trump is once again treating Greenland like a piece of real estate he’s getting ready to take over. The President of the United States can’t stop broadcasting his military domination fantasy of seizing the territory of one of our closest allies, during a day spent at his golf course.
Then there was the most dangerous post of all. Donald Trump shared a cartoon with a character that was supposed to represent Islam, carrying a torch and setting fire to multiple nations and a door with the American flag next in line to be burned down, with the words, “Wake up America!” The president, Donald J. Trump, once again was sharing hate speech. This dangerous propaganda is the same kind that has preceded some of the worst violence in history, the kind of imagery that dehumanizes an entire religion of nearly two billion people and reduces them to a single caricature of destruction. What he shared would get an ordinary person banned from most social media platforms, or at least has in the past and still should today. When the President of the United States shares it, this kind of hate gets amplified and makes innocent people targets. Hate that divides us weakens us and makes all of our lives more dangerous. Hate has never made any country better. Donald Trump knows this. He also knows that a weak country that is broken and divided is an easier country to control. That is why he shared this.
That is how the President of the United States spent his Halloween. While families spent a good part of today walking their children through neighborhoods collecting candy, he spent a good part of his at the golf course, posting endorsements for every Republican who has pledged loyalty to him, and in between, he shared absolute garbage online, reminding the world exactly who he is.
We are now two days away from the most important midterm election most of us will ever vote in. Donald Trump has told us, in his own words, what we need to do: “I really want you to pretend, please, that I’m on the ballot,” and that is exactly what we need to do. We need to think about who he is, what he has done, and what he says, and vote accordingly.
He is on the ballot. Every Republican who has stood beside him, enabled him, defended him, funded him, and refused to break with him represents Donald Trump on the ballot. And this is who Donald Trump really is.
He bragged on tape about grabbing women by their genitals.
He mocked a disabled reporter on national television, mimicking his movements in front of a cheering crowd.
He called countries where Black and brown people live “shithole countries.”
He told four American congresswomen of color to “go back to where they came from.”
He called fallen American soldiers “losers” and “suckers.”
He is separating children from their parents and having people kidnapped off our streets with no due process.
He incited a mob that stormed the United States Capitol, beat police officers with flagpoles, and tried to overturn a legitimate election.
He was found liable for sexual abuse by a jury of his peers.
He was convicted of 34 felonies.
His name is referenced more than 38,000 times in the case files of his longtime friend Jeffrey, one of the most prolific traffickers of minors in American history.
He posted fake images of Barack and Michelle Obama, the first Black president and First Lady of the United States, as apes.
He called a young American Olympian a “loser” for speaking honestly about how complicated it felt to represent the country right then.
He fired inspectors general whose job was to hold him accountable.
He used the Department of Justice to go after his political enemies.
Those are just a few of the things he has done, and nobody stopped him. Not his fellow Republicans, not his advisors, and not his cabinet members. But we are going to stop him. Not with one vote and not overnight. But it will happen, and the long, slow process begins in two days with a blue wave the likes of which we have never seen before.
We are so close to the beginning of something this country desperately needs. Something that goes far past a correction and demands a complete course change. Everyone who has watched the list of Donald Trump’s abuses of power grow longer and longer, everyone who has felt that slow sinking feeling every time a line was crossed and nothing happened, everyone who has wondered whether any of it would ever matter, this is your answer. This is the moment. Not because one election fixes everything, but because it proves that the people of this country are not going to sit here and watch this happen anymore. We are going to stop him. Together. And this Tuesday is where it starts. That’s why I still have hope for America. And you should, too.
I’ll see you tomorrow,
Heather

Picture of the day: Pete and I spent the evening waiting for our youngest and her friends while they were at a haunted trail tonight, so we went for a walk in the rain. There were so many creative Halloween decorations and displays, but this simpler one was my favorite. I think we all feel this one deeply in our souls.

Believe me Churchill’s opinion of Trump would not be printable
My family in USA celebrated Halloween in the best way possible dressing up in such fun costumes and meeting up with friends and other children.
It was simple and joyous and I would love USA to return to that so you can all be less troubled and violated by this evil man in the White House
The posts being posted are too clever for him to do so he must have a little office of really nasty minds to produce them.
Tuesday Is the day to be rid of all of this offence and unhappiness, I don’t think it will be easy and many feel there will be huge pushback from the republicans crying foul.
Stand firm and brave and as a fellow human I am praying for a good outcome.
UK is holding its breath, and Ukraine too for a rebalance of good against evil.
