There’s so much we know but so much more that we don’t, but these times demand the very best from us as we’re fighting an enemy that doesn’t follow or play by the rules. But the federal courts are not only holding but winning cases. However this led to Trump demonizing a judge who will now have to order and pay for security services. A day will come, sooner than later that we will see Trump die, but in the meantime we suffer through his psychotic tantrums. Hopefully the end will come soon.

The most eagerly anticipated obituary. Every version too.

Each day it gets worse. Each day I am afraid to turn on the news ( I have a 5 hour lag in Nz) and each day I find it’s worse. Thank you for letting me know it’s not just me. And for keeping me sane these days.

If you are living in NZ I wonder how many subscribers are outside of the United States?

I'm one of them (from the UK). Heather's posts are my first port of call in the morning.

BC, Canada. Formerly of the UK. And I generally read Heather's post on waking, or at least during breakfast.

I would think heathers people might be able to answer that better

Heather, you write the truth so succinctly. I appreciate your honesty and hard work. I am truly afraid of what the mentally unstable president may do over the coming months. Congress, or his Cabinet, are the only ones who can take the necessary action to protect our country; yet they stand idly by. 😢

Ken Chapman's avatar

Hey Heather. How about you write about how terrible it would look for him to appear at his hokey June 14 rally behind a curtain. A red one. I'd like to see (hear) his rousing speech delivered behind a curtain.

Of course if you said it would be awful, he'd jump at the idea. He's so dangerously shallow.

This is the day that HE must hear the resistance of millions of Americans- It’s ’NO KINGS DAY’ and EVERY sane American should join the campaign to tell Trump ‘NO!’ - to Everything he stands for.

THIS is probably the last chance before the Midterms in November to have your voices heard.

Wave a BLACK flag (not stars and stripes) to symbolise your resistance and let him know the people are coming for him!

This is YOUR country, not HIS!

It strikes me as odd that we have now seen tRump rhapsodizing over his test results, without ANY CLARIFICATION from Walter Reed staffers that this latest is. . .what?. . .maybe the FOURTH cognitive awareness screening he's had done in as many months.

This looks to me as if they are running regular countdowns to determine EXACTLY THE MOMENT that he can be removed from office for being bonkers.

The problem is that the very people (the cabinet and Congress) who are charged with acting on evidence that the orange pustule is unfit have refused over and over and over to do ANYTHING to cross him. I'm afraid that they could be presented with video evidence of the orange pustule foaming at the mouth and raving incomprehensably and they would still sit on their hands.

Thank you for your great efforts to keep us both informed and inspired during a dark time in our history. It is encouraging to read so many Substack contributors reaching increasing numbers of Americans.

I, too, feel we are entering the crucible that will test our Constitution, our leaders and us. Cornered rats can cause a lot of injury. And the folks backing Trump in the hopes of building a fascist empire will not go “gently in the good night”. Thank God for the Federal District Court judges. The gears are slow and creaky, but the engine is still running.

To this day, I still have a tough time understanding the mindset of so many Republicans in Congress. To say that I have zero respect for any Republican would be an understatement. Fear, greed and cowardice are the only planks left in that sorry party’s platform.

Please continue your very important work as a critical part of the new media. A voice in the wilderness may get lost, but a stampede cannot be ignored.

Katy Bolger's avatar

Because the party was led by the corrupted-to-the-core Mitch McConnell for 18 years, this is the result. Because the hateful Newt Gingrich was instrumental in telling the GOP what direction it needed to go in, this is the result. Because the party deified the empty (and scorned by his peers) actor, Ronald Reagan, this is the result. I think you start with those three men and you begin to see the rise of the party of bigotry, misogyny and greed. And yet, don't they all look weak to you?

My fear is that just as in 2024, Elon Musk will cook the numbers of voting. How do we stop that?

Pam Birkenfeld's avatar

Support the efforts in each individual state to counter these moves, write to your own state vote organizations, even though for sure in the Blue state, preparations are being made for these eventualities. Will it be enough? We hope so.

Meriby Sweet's avatar

Dixie, we need to rely on the strong principles of every town clerk, vote-counting person or machine that touches every ballot. If it devolves into a national hand-count to avoid/void Musk interference, we must be willing to wait and see the process through.

The only "good" thing about these ravings on social media is that they stand as historical documentation of his madness. They remind me of Nero strumming his lute while watching Rome burn.

I agree that he is getting more and more dangerous and is terrified about the midterms. But as was reported in another Substack post, he is having his people construct a shadow “vote.gov” and other government websites but that are being run by operatives working for the White House and NOT for federal agencies. They will try to steal this election by stealing and manipulating our data. Please read this post and give us your thoughts.

As usual, Heather you are spot on! I forward many of your columns to my representatives here in PA...I hope they are listening!

As for Sean Barbabella, Trump must have something on him...no honest physician would make a statement saying what he said...we can all see for ourselves that just the opposite is true! Shame on him!

Blow, winds (nuclear bombs), and crack your cheeks! rage! blow!

You cataracts and hurricanoes, spout

Till you have drench'd our steeples, drown'd the cocks!

You sulphurous and thought-executing fires,

Vaunt-couriers to oak-cleaving thunderbolts,

Singe my white head! And thou, all-shaking thunder,

Smite flat the thick rotundity o' the world!

Crack nature's moulds, an germens spill at once,

That make ingrateful man!

JUNE 14th - It’s Trump’s 8th birthday bash (so he’ll expect lots of toys and goodies) but rather than listening to TanTrump ranting about how brilliant, intelligent and successful he is, it’s the perfect opportunity to make sure HE hears the resistance of millions of Americans!

It’s ’NO KINGS DAY’ and EVERY sane American should join the campaign to tell Trump ‘NO!’ - to Everything he stands for.

THIS is probably the last chance before the Midterms in November to have your voices heard.

Wave a BLACK flag (not stars and stripes) to symbolise your resistance and let him know the people are coming for him!

This is YOUR country, not HIS! He can ignore you as he is currently doing but soon he will overstep the mark with just one decision that will bring him down.

Keep pushing his buttons!

And have a great 4th July guys!

When Trump rants from within his narcissistic insanity bubble he is not thinking about what we should think, he's just expressing what he thinks. The incompetent self-centered sycophants surrounding the bubble are letting it happen not to influence what we think, but to let us know what they are having to deal with, how difficult that is. They don't care about Iran, so they let it be sacrificed to his destructive impulses while trying to negotiate our exit. But Heather's basic point is correct, that all this will get worse before it gets better.

Jane Hall's avatar

Even worse than T’s craziness is that no one has the guts or wisdom to stop him. The judicial system is a mockery and it’s no wonder that he gets worse. The man is calling out to be stopped. His parents had to send him to military school. Nothing worked. His grandiosity will kill us all yet we allow him to keep going. A judge ruled against the ballroom but now what? Will anyone stop him? I am thinking about Congress who refuses to put an end to this. What kind of people do we elect? And if wise people win enough seats in Congress it will require fast action yet I doubt that will happen. Thank you Heather - I hope enough people follow your posts.

The Roberts Supreme Court is a mockery, or 2/3 of one. The other levels of court are doing very good work in not bowing to the would-be monarch.

Pamela S.'s avatar

Yes. The courts seem to have been the only effective guardrail so far.

toni diaz's avatar

only effective if the guardrail is acknowledged and respected. that doesnt seem to be the situation here. 'hold my beer' is the order of the day

Pamela S.'s avatar

What kind of people do we elect? Bingo. That is an important question. The (admittedly generalized) answer is greedy and power-mad people. A mere handful in Congress could have stopped this at any point - and still could. But their desired proximity to power is now overlain by fear. That same power can, and will, come back to bite them, but probably not before the madman inflicts even more viciousness on not only us, but the world. Self-preservation is a strong instinct.

Katy Bolger's avatar

In Maine, Dems must hold their nose and vote for Platner, a "reformed" misogynist Nazi-curious oyster fisherman. In Texas, the GOP will dance into the voting booth and go for Paxton, a deeply deeply flawed man and crooked politician.

You are right, we are electing the wrong people.

As you and probably the majority of individuals following what is going on in the White House I am deeply worried what you report in your blog. However, considering the number and timing of Trumps‘s postings they cannot be his personal work. Maybe he could write down his peculiar outbursts on his IPhone but certainly cannot use high tec software to produce KI-generated pics! He must have some staff doing that.

But anyway - how can his insane behavior still be tolerated and ignored by a majority of GOP politicians???

There are little signs on the horizon that DJT followers finally wake up and stand up against him - hopefully this group will grow and lead the US back to its historic role and responsibiliy as leader of Western Democracy!

He absolutely could be doing this himself with AI. Anyone could. Nothing high tech about it - as long as he’s using a model that will create the images he wants (of himself). He is also sharing the AI fantasies of others that post images of him, I’m sure.
