At 1:59 this afternoon, Donald J. Trump walked toward a makeshift stage with his head down, climbed the platform steps, and stood at the podium inside a square of bulletproof glass right in front of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. He spoke for nearly an hour, struggling to read his notes, keep his eyes open, and even get through his prepared remarks, but it was one single line that seemed to sum up the entire event. “For some reason, the sitting president doesn’t win the midterms, but we gave this a very strong shot.” The sitting president himself seemed to be admitting defeat before a single vote was even counted.
In two and a half hours I have to get up and go to my local polling place to be an election judge. It's going to be a 14-hour day for me and I need my sleep, but I just haven't been able to get it tonight. I voted myself on October 17th, the first day the polls were open in Kansas. May all of us be safe and well no matter how the day turns out politically. Thank you for your daily voice of reason, Heather. You Are appreciated.
Thank you for your service, Elaine. Couldnt sleep either, excited but slightly nauseated for the day to unfold and to know this time we have triumphed over the cruelty, indecency and lawlessness of this president and his regime. GOP congresspeople and senators blaming trump as the cause of what will likely happen today is the least self aware thing to come from today. It’s a new one everyday, and they have no one to blame but themselves. Yet they will blame everyone but themselves, they who could have stopped so much of the destruction. Have they never looked in the proverbial mirror.??
Bless you, Heather; you're an inspiration to this 70 y/o man in SC. I'm hoping that Dr. Annie Andrews & Admiral Nancy Lacore can pull out victories in this beautiful state, nearly ruined by decades of Republican "leadership." Please stay safe, and keep sharing the truth with your beautiful prose and heartfelt conviction.
Powerful stuff. I have just read that with tears rolling down my cheeks. I know how important today is, I know that America, the world, stands on a cliff edge. I know how brave you, and too few like you, have been these last two years. I know what an abomination Trump is and how disgusting his enablers are. I know how greedy, selfish, weak and dangerous they are. I'm anxious, I'm a bit of a mess, really. And I am sat at work, in the office, in the UK.
Thank you Heather. A poignant visual of a poem by Francis Scott Key turned into a song we sing…
Our group will be driving shuttles of people to their locations and the amount of people that signed up for the service we are providing is challenging so we called in some reinforcements yesterday to help with the pick ups and drop offs. What’s joyful is seeing so many who have stepped up and decided to not “sit this one out”. From the early voting, all people the blending weaves of the fabric that makes this nations quilt so remarkable, and so worth keeping.
So many of us awaiting the results of using our voices, our votes as to what the outcomes will be. Unlike Francis Scott Key we will have to wait patiently for the results possibly longer than one night, that will be the challenge and we all know that we may be suffering a tad bit of PTSD as well as a bit of nausea and being cautiously optimistic. Keep the glass half full, always no matter what, that’s just how life goes because the alternative isn’t needed. As many will be awaiting their own state results, we are looking forward to a first, a woman elected as Governor in the state of Ohio and sending Senator Brown back to the Senate. BTW-so glad that Ohio is a state since it seems to Donnie Jr we haven’t been.. Fingers crossed, knocking on a lot of wood, you know the rest…
As a reminder call 866-687-8683 if you have problems at the polls and don’t panic, stay calm and call... Stay safe, healthy and hydrate the lines probably will be long and highly suggest thanking all that work at the voting polls… they are the hero’s and wearing capes… 🗳️
Today’s Election Day… if you haven’t used your voice and voted — well today is the day to do so folks… Let’s bring it Home and yes Let’s Do This…
Thank you Heather. I don’t think I could listen to the Star Spangled Banner without crying after reading your words. I’m awake at 4 AM feeling so much anxiety about tomorrow - hope and fear in equal measure.
Heather, I sincerely hope that the Dumpkof gets his just desserts and that there will be a landslide in favour of the Democrats. The BBC are actually covering the midterms tonight up until Wednesday morning. I don't remember them doing this before (though I may be wrong on this) but it just goes to show how vital these elections are.
Desperately hoping your wise words have been heeded by USA population and a brighter future for your country and the entire planet can begin. With much admiration and appreciation for your devotion and bravery informing and encouraging your readers including those like me in UK
Awake at 3:30, I prayed for our country and for our leaders who will take us out of this mess. Your message today, Heather, brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for an inspiring, hopeful message!
Safe in Britain, I watch my US family being both hopeful and worried about the outcome of the midterms and how your lunatics in power will react. Thanks for keeping us informed. Stay safe Heather.
Thank you for this reminder that Hope, that the flag will still stand. That rings true. When we sing that song, we slow down with the gravity of the moment, thank you. May the powers of American people bless America today by removing the powers of this dangerous administration and its feeble and spineless Republican Congress.
Democrats must challenge improbable Republican wins by demanding hand recounts. Election Truth Alliance has built a toolkit for candidates to use to challenge questionable election results. I urge everyone to forward the link to their Democratic candidate in any competitive state or district. Here's the link;

Great post, TJ.

I’ve been awake since 2. Can’t sleep. My stomach is a mess. I’m holding on to hope. Let’s hang on to our dream of America.💙

The man walking to the podium looks like someone who has just left the Doctor's office with some very bad news.
