Noem’s ad is just to show her “power”. If she really wanted to release that message to the immigrants she would 1. use the Spanish media, 2. talk slower, or 3. learn to speak Spanish.

Babbling botox barbie will not get that message across to the audience she is supposedly trying to reach. All in all it is just a bunch of BS.

That would be an easy way for them to capture an immigrant, throw them in on of their gulags, and terrorize them.

Couldn't agree more. Just more propaganda.

Thank you. I needed this today. I'm so tired. So tired of the world. Of hate. Of fear. Of chaos. Of worrying every minute of the day about what next? And feeling so incredibly insignificant to fight back. I live in a red state. With all Maga representation in congress. I'm donating a small monthly amount to Democratic candidates for the governor, senate and reps. I will 💯 percent vote in midterms and any other local elections. What else can I do. I really want to help protect immigrants. I work for a nonprofit that serves people with Down syndrome.

If the same election equipment infrastructure is still being used in 2026. Does not matter how many people vote. If the equipment is compromised. You will still have the same results as 2024.

This is powerful writing and you make a strong point. The moment of truth is coming. But I think if we want to motivate people we need to make them understand how we are all living on borrowed time. The problem is that so many I know, those who oppose what Trump is doing and those who mildly support it or don't care, think that things will burble along. They think that it is obvious we will have normal elections and obvious that we can vote our way around as we always have. They don't see the horrors we are facing, and in the case of Trump voters, the horrors they have enabled because they don't want to. They want to believe it is all normal and that all they really voted for was tax cuts. Because when push comes to shove the shattered glass will hit them too.

But you are right it is coming. We have been warned, we have been called out by the bullies, the tyrants, the would-be abusers who make up Trump's cabinet. And as anyone with an abuser knows once they have told you, it is only a matter of time.

I very much like your idea of something to band around. At one time I thought "We are all Kilmer" might be something but I'm not so sure. Not a hat, not a badge, but a goal is what we need because we truly live on borrowed time.

At the end the well written article fails for me like so many of these: it recounts what we know but then says stand tall with your signs and protest as if doing the same thing again and again will produce different results. Supporting and joining a national general strike by shouting g diwn the American economy is the only action that will change the course of this. Deny them money and you deny them power💜

When the dust of Orange Julius Caesar settles, we need a national referendum. Not vote for this guy or that guy, b/c we know that at least some will say what they think voters want to hear, then enact what their donors want. But a referendum with questions like:

What do you want the government to do for you? Yes/no:

Accessible medical care

National defense

Path to citizenship

Fund public schools

Clean air & water

Corporate responsibility enforced

National parks protected

All-white nation

All-Christian nation

Military patrolling the streets

Legal system subservient to the Chief Executive

I’m sure yall can think of others.

Yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes! Give the power of the vote back to the people. Then our vote truly is our voice.

trump did not invoke the Insurrection Act on January 6, for the simple reason that he himself gave these terrorists the orders to attack the Capitol. Yes, he had the authority to activate the DC Guard, but he only remained silent, watching the action on the telly, hoping that his thugs would get his VP, Pence and Pelosi and any Democrats they could get their hands on. It was only after 4pm that he told his thugs to go home, a long with these statements: 'We love you '....... Remember this day..'

4 years later, he pardoned all these terrorists, putting them back on the streets; and I am convinced that several of them are now ICE 'agents', hence, the reason for the face coverings. trump claims that these masks are worn so that they can do their jobs and be able to live normal lives with their families; yet he has no issues with the lives and families of immigrants being ruined and destroyed by the actions of his thugs.

“moment of truth?” Artificial Truth or Socratic Truth?

Krasnov calls his propaganda channel “truth social” after all. The word doesn't have the same cache it once did. Which is the objective of Putins little buddy.

Keep up the great work Heather. I just found your stack. You make real sense. Your right about what we learned in school and about how we have dealt with Fascist designs before and how we came through.

I think sometimes about Europe after WW2. The udder devastation. And how Europe is today. We are in much better shape today than Europe was then.

That gives me hope that this too shall end and the Fascist Regime will be taken down. We can not afford failure.

Please, it's as much the fault of the far left wing for not wanting to be a big tent party. Learn to fucking compromise. This is why I'm an independent.

Although I don't think the current level of active resistance to the regime is sufficient to alter its course, I do agree that the mid-terms could be defining for democracy in the USA. Which begs the question, what escalatory actions will be taken if mid-term elections fail to turn the States around? More protest marches (if they haven't been completely banned)? What will your active resistance look like? And if you think you can make a difference then, why not just implement these moves now? The current trajectory of the US government is clearly authoritarian, but maybe not enough MAGA can see that? Are you waiting to get more MAGA moderates activated?

Linda Hansen's avatar

Very well written. Thank you for your excellent voice. How many of us would have to participate in a General Strike to make it work? The Monday before the Midterms would be a good day.

Chris David's avatar

The midterms would be cancelled if you did that.
