Trump's physical deterioration is now undeniable (and accelerating)

This was one of those days where the sheer volume of what happened almost makes it impossible to process. It started with Trump’s “Champion of Coal” event at the White House, where his slurred speech and vacant stare raised serious concerns about his mental fitness, concerns his enablers will never acknowledge because projecting power matters more to them than the truth. He stood in front of coal workers who risk their lives every day and told them they wouldn’t trade places with him and his Fifth Avenue penthouse, a moment so disconnected from reality it bordered on cruelty.

But the real gut punch came during the House Judiciary Committee hearing on the Epstein files, where Attorney General Pam Bondi put on a performance that should haunt every American. She screamed at lawmakers, weaponized identity to dodge questions about powerful men’s ties to Epstein, and refused to even look at the trafficking survivors sitting feet behind her, survivors whose names her own DOJ had exposed in unredacted files while shielding the accused. And then the press caught something on her notes that changes everything: a printed record of a congresswoman’s personal search history from inside a secure DOJ facility, which means the Department of Justice is surveilling the very lawmakers conducting oversight of it.

In the middle of all of that, there was one moment that reminded me why I still believe in this country. A D.C. grand jury refused to indict six Democratic lawmakers, veterans, and former intelligence officers, on sedition charges for simply reminding military members to uphold the Constitution. Regular citizens said no. The system held. And the survivors who showed up to that hearing, who raised their hands when asked if the DOJ had contacted them and were met with nothing but silence, are the bravest people in any room in Washington right now.
