He’s a sick bastard. Probably a closet case as well. My parents, both of whom served proudly in WWII, are most likely spinning in their graves right now. This is exactly the sort of thing they signed up to fight against.

Thank you again for your hard work putting words to what is happening in our country. The changing of the military into a Tr...p protective force is terrifying. Your comparisons of what is happening and how Hegseth is using the image of the military with what happened in Nazi Germany is totally on target. I say this as a writer of WWII historical fiction and the granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor. My father told me once: "If it could happen in Germany, it can happen anywhere!" I tremble these days to watch his prediction coming true right here in the US.

He’s going to need to be wearing a sharp uniform when he’s hauled before the Judges at Nuremberg v.2 in 2029.

I'm a recovering alcoholic of 38 years and after 4 DUI's, drinking a fifth of whiskey per day and losing job after job due to "long" lunches (I'm 76 now and this was the early-1980's), I so recognize a dry drunk and there is a HUGE difference between someone who is a "drunk" and someone who says they're sober but they're not. It's referred to as a "dry drunk" - which is a person who has quit liquifying but mentally, they're drunk. Petey Bird is so pissed that he can't drink on the job like he's so used to, that he's decided to be the "best damn leader this country has ever seen." Over those drinking decades I watched men, in just about every bar I frequented, stand at the end of the bar and preach to us all about what makes a man a "real man" or would talk about women because he "knew" more than anyone and that they were so inferior. This confirmation of Petey Bird was one of the worst things this so-called administration has done. I wouldn't be surprised if he raped a woman and said, "this is how it's done." He has already abused women so he would know. The racism and misogyny is out of control, as well. Firing people of color and women just proves it all and our nation is not safe. The more he opens his mouth and the more 45 opens his mouth, the more the other countries take note. If Petey Bird wanted to be a "real man", he would attend 30/30 (30 meetings in 30 days), he would read the Big Book and start being humble. Yeah, right.

Elon Musk continues to buy his way in to every aspect of our life. He’s invented nothing, he is an investor, an invader, and a sham.

It sounds like petey is trying to cover up for his cowardly lion boss. And himself. By trying to project strength through meanness and tough guy theatrics.

But at same time, those young enlisted are impressionable. They’re mostly in their late teens and early twenties. And they’re in the military where you’re expected to follow orders and jump when they say jump.

They know you’re at an impressionable age and ripe for brain washing. In the previous ‘normal’ military that was fine, because your leadership was also trying to make a decent moral person out of you.

But in Pete hegseth and the cowardly lion military, it sounds like they want to make nazi’s out of you.

So it’s a dangerous game they’re playing. For our military and for our country.

Hegseth and Co. are Old Testament Christians, claiming to be God’s judgment on his enemies.

That’s not what Jesus teaches in the New Testament. In John 18:36, Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”

Hegseth has apparently decided that Jesus was low-T, I guess. Turn the other cheek? Woke!

If the 'Wizard of Oz' had a military, this is what it would look and sound like. All huffin' and puffin' show, without anything to back it up. Is Hegseth still a reservist? I'm surprised he hasn't Colonel Blimped himself up with a snazzy uniform, complete with oversized epaulettes and hat. Maybe he's saving that for the invasion of Iran.

What is so ironic about Hegseth is his devotion to Christianity (“due unto others as you would have them due unto you”), which when put against his support for liquidating Iranians actually comes across as an invitation to Iran to liquidate Americans. I’m sure he denies this—ie, seeing life and war as a one way street—but doesn’t this really classify him an actual Anti-Christ.
