At 10:26 this morning, while House Republican leaders stood at a press conference celebrating the most significant bipartisan achievement of this Congress, a housing bill that had passed the Senate 85 to 5 and the House 358 to 32, the President of the United States posted 39 words on Truth Social and ended it all. He would not sign the bill. Not today. Not until Congress passed the SAVE America Act, a voting bill that his own party leaders have told him repeatedly does not have the votes to pass. No one saw it coming, either.
I can't say I'm the least bit surprised that the Petulant Diaper Monster refused to sign the housing bill--I figured he'd do something to scuttle it. It was, after all, a) actually good for the country, b) a demonstration that the two parties could actually work together when pressed, and c) something that took the spotlight away from the spoiled bloated baby and his idiotic peccadilloes for a second or two. I'd assumed he'd use something conventional, like the veto, but then again, vetoes can be overridden and a temper tantrum is much more his style. It does surprise me that "no one saw it coming." Really? Is NO ONE awake in Congress? One way or another, he's got to go! There will be no hope for the country otherwise.
It is difficult sometimes to find hope. But I have a lovely daughter and 3 beautiful grandchildren, so I WILL continue to find hope. Thank you Heather. 🩵
Get him so hoppin' mad that he'll blow a fuse, if you know what I mean. I wouldn't want him dead, that would be too easy. Perhaps mute, and immobile. I'm sure they could find someone willing to hose him down a few times a day.

Friends were taking their grandchildren for a two-week vacation and arrived in DC on Monday. They take their grandchildren every summer and thought since the kids are eleven and thirteen they would enjoy some of the sites as the nation is turning 250. Just a few days for a visit before July 4th. They were unaware that the celebration of this Freedom 250 was starting this week. They left Tuesday afternoon, the grandparents and the kids agreed they would celebrate somewhere else.. Today they were watching wild horses roam free at Assateague Island… all were happy that they changed their plans..

What is most troubling however, is the words he wrote about the need to have the election reform provisions passed asap: He stated that he considers it “a National Emergency” - This statement is more than a foreshadowing of his dictatorial agenda: It is a prophecy.

All of 47’s machinations make me picture him as a Matryoshka doll. The outer shells of greed, hate, lies, envy, arrogance, evil intent, etc., hold the tiny inner core hostage. It’s the core that screams “I’m going to die never having been truly loved by anyone, ever.” I sense he’s about to hit the climax and explode from that personal conflict.
It’s one thing to suffer from mental or emotional illness - millions do. It’s quite another to use it as a weapon and inflict one’s suffering upon the entire world.

Heather, do I detect the first defiance of the Republican Party against the orange dictator when Senator Cassidy challenged him in that meeting? Despite the Housing Bill being passed, because Trump didn't agree with the bill he threw his toys out of the pram like he always does when he doesn't get his own way. That's what democracy is all about Donald.
By the way, congratulations to your daughter on her 24th birthday. I'm sure that all right thinking Americans wish her and all young people a better future sans Trump.
This is a good point. What I have not seen (not yet, anyway) is an analysis of how this might play out. It seems clear that he could decide to veto it directly within the 10 days. What I wonder is if he will force his congressional leaders to adjourn to effect a pocket veto, if there is some reason why he didn't just veto it directly himself. I guess it will play itself out in 10 days.
I believe many of us share a feeling of despair and shame as our nation's 250 birthday approaches; despair for what this country has lost and shame for what it has become.
The great symbols our country, the flag, the national anthem, the monuments and historic buildings in Washington DC no long move me. When I see a flag flying from a neighbor's house or flapping from the back of a stranger's pickup truck, I no longer wonder who they are honoring, I think MAGA and I hate them. When I hear politicians speak, I no longer feel gratitude for what they're doing FOR the country, I despise them for their complicity in the destruction of our country.
So much talk centers around "taking back our country" with the mid-term elections. Unfortunately, with Trump's SAVE voter repression bill likely to be forced through the Senate one way or another, the prospects for legitimate, fair and free elections in the Fall grow dimmer every day. Sadly, with a spineless, complicit Republican Congress and a Democratic party that can't tell its ass from a hole in the ground, I see little likelihood of any sort of a rebirth.
I miss loving my country; I miss feeling proud to be an American. As I watch Trump and his authoritarian regime dismantle all that was good about this country and hand it over to the billionaire autocrats who plunder it, the thing I think about most often is that I wish could somehow move out of this country and forget about it. Family, friends, and the natural beauty of where I live hold me here; a belief in the future does not.
Sadly, I find it difficult to muster the hope that the people of this country will, in the end, rise up and save America.
Since I left my remark, the district judge in Massachusetts ( where I live ) issued a decision stopping the Postal Service from doing it, and the feds from gathering voter rolls. Read the decision it’s absolutely terrific.
From what I've read, if your state refuses to give up their voter roles to the Fed, USPS will have no "verification" of who might be an illegal immigrant registered to vote... and will not mail out ballots. No one has mentioned whether USPS will withhold ballots in the states using mail-in only voting, though. At least I didn't see any of that reported from the Postmaster General's visit to the Capitol the other day. Guess that means you're all in limbo, since it appears that trump is going to officially call another "national emergency" over congress' refusal to pass his SAVE act.

Keep your eyes on the USPS. They are actively trying to put in place rules about not sending ballots. Comment before it becomes a rule

How will that work if some states,like mine, only have mail in voting?
