Mike Johnson accidentally told us the plan for Social Security and Medicare
On a little-known Louisiana radio show, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson told the host exactly what this administration plans to do if they remain in control after the midterms. “Entitlement programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and then things like Social Security. They have to be adjusted and fixed,” he said. “We have a plan to do that next year.” Next year. Not before the election, when voters could do something about it. After. He told us the plan and the schedule, and the schedule gives him away.
Just over a year ago, Johnson looked the country in the eye on Meet the Press and said cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security were off the table. Now there is a plan, on a timetable, hidden behind language designed to deceive. He calls it “mandatory spending on autopilot,” as if Social Security were a runaway machine nobody asked for. But Social Security is not a handout. It is deferred wages, taxed out of every paycheck for decades on a promise it would be there when needed. The law they passed last year cut roughly a trillion dollars from Medicaid while delivering roughly a trillion in tax cuts to the top 1 percent. The crisis is not discovered. It is built. And nearly 9 in 10 Americans over 65 rely on Social Security, with older Americans already the fastest-growing group of homeless people in this country.
But here is what Mike Johnson left out of his plan. For the past year, Democrats have been overperforming in special elections, in deep red places, in districts Trump won by double digits. And every time one of these men stands in front of a friendly microphone and tells us exactly what they intend to do to us, another person wakes up. We have nearly five months. If we keep talking, keep telling the truth to our parents, our kids, and strangers, they don’t remain in control.

We are living through a pivotal moment for our country, and my goal is to reach as many people as possible with clear, factual information about what is happening. The more people who understand what is unfolding, the better our chances of pushing back against chaos, cruelty, and corruption ahead of the midterms.

If they had not taken money from the fund, it would be solvent. They should pay back all the money they took stating it wasn’t illegal because it came from the general fund. Our money is not general fund money. It should be separate from the general fund. They need to be held accountable
I am retired and just turned 79. I was paying my bills today and checking my bank account to be sure I had enough to cover them. I did, thanks 100% to my social security check that’s automatically deposited into my checking account monthly. I COUNT on that money! I am grateful I socked it away since I started working at 17 and retired at 65. I receive a nice check every month for all my hard work. It is MY MONEY I worked for and trusted my government to carefully invest and watch over so it was always guaranteed to be there when I needed it. Now Trump is trying to cut those payments; trying to privatize SS, trying to kill Medicare and Medicaid. Why? To give tax savings to his BIG donors! The rich are robbing us blind! FIGHT BACK! VOTE BLUE!
