Great, impactful column, Heather. You are so good at this. And amen to the unwavering love of our furry friends!

May she be the first of many. Bondi should be next…

Bondi MUST be next. And what he is showing and will continue to show us is that he has to get rid of the women. 🙄

I have seriously contemplated leaving the US and taking up residency in a more sane country. Then the felon started bombing boats in the Caribbean and the Pacific. Next he started what could well become World War 3. And I realize that no place is safe until we make America safer again. Your daily doses of sanity and hope help keep me hopeful. Thank you.

Heather, I don’t know how you do this day after day. I hope you find time to sleep. This is the most sane, unvarnished and thoughtful reporting I have read regarding this insane regime and its enablers that I have read. Please keep up the good work and thank you!

The most hated and corrupt president of America has really corrupted everything and everybody around him. Lock him up!

My sewing circle, consisting only of ladies of a certain age is always bubbling up with conversations of outrage and, sometimes, despair, over what we are witnessing in this country. We are here, we are in greater numbers than magats, and we will prevail. I love what Tim Walz said to Noem, paraphrasing: we are not finished within you, you will be made to pay for your crimes against this country. And unlike the pardon of Nixon, we will not allow any pardons or excuses for these lawbreakers. We were never given our due as the victims of Nixon, but that cannot be the case with Twump and his criminal enterprise. Miller needs to pay, Hegseth, Kennedy, Tom Homan needs to pay, Pam Bondi et al in DOJ need to pay. And by pay I mean behind bars, stripped of their power and their dignity just like they have done to so many human beings. Let them rot in jail. Let them have their children drive hundreds of miles to visit them in lock up. We have suffered as a country, the country has suffered tremendously. As Raskin said to Noem: you have made the government hate its people and the people hate their government. Can we recover?

Well, let’s keep at the push needed to take the House and Senate in the midterms. I’m trying to keep going with cheerful vigor for my grandkids and the future of this country and you, Heather, are helping me take a breath and get started every single morning. Thank you! - a red state follower of your words.

Thank you for the story about the sticker in the parking lot. Everything else was great but that impactful lesson is the one I’ll take with me, and what inspired me to upgrade my subscription.

Great read..as always Heather. Your bumper sticker story is great. I live in a very red state and it’s difficult to go against the grain but necessary. I was at an Eagles concert last weekend and they played “End of The Innocence” with a moving video. The crowd cheered when the American flag was shown, but it was not as loud and exuberant as it used to be. The flag image evolved into army tanks rolling through the fields. I wondered what was going through people’s minds at the time because we had just bombed Iran. I hope we are all able to cheer the US flag in the future.

Thank you Heather. Your words matter. It gives us hope that this too may pass.

Such a good piece. How about taking stronger action to have our voices heard? How about a coup to install a presidential team? Let's say Heather Cox Richardson, Joyce Vance, Anne Applebaum, Michelle Obama and Marianne Williamson. These are ones I follow, and there are other great women, too. And maybe more than five to do this. Just picture such warm, intelligent, and human-loving human beings leading the way. If they state that they are taking charge, so many millions would be on the streets in Washington that we couldn’t be thwarted.

It is all his fault. He lined his cabinet with worse than incompetent people. His aim is that they do his job for him. Then this happens and he is livid and more importantly embarrassed. So out they go. And they get replaced with “Macho Man”.
