J.D. Vance is positioning himself to be the next President

J.D. Vance showed up to a manufacturing plant in Plover, Wisconsin, wearing Trump’s costume, playing Trump’s music, and delivering Trump’s talking points, because he was there to audition to be Trump’s replacement. He spent 45 minutes hammering the word “fraud,” inflating numbers that didn’t matter, and then awkwardly declared himself the “coolest vice president in American history,” apparently forgetting that Thomas Jefferson authored the Declaration of Independence and Lyndon Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act. But the real story wasn’t the speech. It was why he was there at all. Since delivering a nearly two-hour State of the Union address, Trump has all but vanished. No press conferences, no public remarks, a near-silent Truth Social account, and every meeting closed to cameras. A Reuters-Ipsos poll found that 61% of Americans now say Trump has “become erratic with age,” and the people behind the curtain see those numbers too.

And while Vance was stumbling through his audition, something far more dangerous was unfolding. Warner Bros. Discovery declared Paramount’s bid to acquire the company, including CNN, a “superior proposal,” meaning David Ellison, backed by his father Larry Ellison’s fortune and deep ties to Trump, could soon control both CBS and CNN. This is the same ownership that settled Trump’s lawsuit against CBS, installed a conservative editor-in-chief at CBS News, and has already softened or shelved reporting critical of the administration. Trump himself has publicly called for the sale of CNN in connection with this deal. If it goes through, the same forces that gutted one of America’s most trusted news organizations will have their hands around another, and the pipeline of truth gets thinner at the exact moment we need it most.
