Is Trump's plan to target legal citizens?
The President stood in the East Room to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Black History Month and turned the entire event into a campaign rally about himself. He reduced Reverend Jesse Jackson, who died last week at 84, to “a piece of work,” brought pardoned criminals to the stage to praise him, and name-dropped Black celebrities as proof he isn’t racist. This from a man who shared a video depicting the Obamas as apes less than two weeks ago, whose administration is erasing references to slavery from public monuments and purging the military’s most prominent Black leaders. This wasn’t a celebration. It was propaganda designed to create a visual record that says “look how much I care,” while the policies tell a very different story.
The most chilling moment came in the language. Trump declared that “100 percent of all net job creation is going to American-born citizens,” echoing the exact phrase Karoline Leavitt used hours earlier. This is coordinated messaging designed to draw a line between citizens who were born here and those who earned their citizenship through immigration, creating a two-tier system where one group belongs and the other has to prove it. That is how authoritarian governments have always begun separating “real” citizens from the ones they plan to target next. And when you pair that language with 92,600 new detention beds being built while the administration claims the border is already secure, the question becomes unavoidable: who are those beds really for?

I’ll now be sharing video versions of my nightly posts in addition to the written ones. We are living through a pivotal moment for our country, and my goal is to reach as many people as possible with clear, factual information about what is happening. The more people who understand what is unfolding, the better chance we have to push back against chaos, cruelty, and corruption ahead of the midterms.

Before long even those "American born" citizens could start getting detained en masse, too. It's unbelievable to me that this assault on human rights is continuing apace in America....
“Who are those beds really for?” Excellent question, Heather! Which group of us will he target next?
