I’m writing from a country unraveling.

Where the president creates false flag issues because his ego decides how he leads. Where everything is about image, not outcomes.

Where power means never having to solve a problem, only needing someone else to blame for it.

Where leadership is measured in airtime and outrage, not in care or competence.

Where the Department of Justice has just created a strike force to go after Obama-era officials.

Where the target isn’t the people who interfered with our election.

It’s the ones who investigated it.

Where the current president is still obsessed with prior President Obama, even though he has been out of office for almost a decade.

Where President Trump is still trying to make him the villain of his story because he lives rent-free in his insecurities.

Attorney General Pam Bondi, with help from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, is accusing James Comey, John Brennan, and James Clapper of fabricating intelligence to take down Trump.

Tulsi called it treason.

A word that should never be used lightly in a democracy.

Because the penalty for treason is death.

Because when a government labels dissent or investigation as “treason,” it stops being a government. It becomes a regime.

This is the same Tulsi Gabbard who once called Trump “unfit” and backed Bernie Sanders.

Now she’s helping criminalize the investigation into Russian election interference.

The same interference that was confirmed by all 17 U.S. intelligence agencies and detailed in a bipartisan Senate report.

It’s not about justice.

It’s about vengeance.

At the same time, Trump is touring the Federal Reserve like it’s a reality show set, attacking Jerome Powell over a $2.5 billion building renovation, approved years ago, funded across multiple budgets, and required for seismic safety.

He accused Powell of corruption.

He hinted he’d fire him.

He floated replacing him with a loyalist.

The market knows what that means:

Higher inflation.

Destabilization.

Loss of independence at the Fed.

Since Powell took office, inflation has dropped from a pandemic high of 9.1% to just over 3%.

Trump wants to cut rates before the election.

Firing Powell would trigger panic and send a clear message: The Fed answers to him.

He doesn’t want stability.

He wants control.

Then came the executive order on homelessness.

It sounds like action.

But it’s not.

It’s a demand letter, with no plan and no money.

Just another of Trump's PR stunts.

It doesn’t help the 56-year-old disabled veteran sleeping outside Union Station in D.C.

It doesn’t help the pregnant mother of two, who was turned away from a full shelter.

It doesn’t help the teen fresh out of foster care who lost access to rehab after the detox center in his town was shut down.

It includes:

No housing.

No mental health care.

No new funding.

It demands cities sweep homeless encampments off federal land, despite there being over 230,000 more unhoused people than shelter beds available.

And at the same time, Trump is:

Cutting LGBTQIA+ suicide hotlines

Slashing SNAP benefits

Defunding school-based mental health care

We are already facing steep cuts in Medicaid mental health, eliminating harm reduction services, and gutting community health block grants.

A reduction in 8,000 psychiatric beds.

Suicide rates among LGBTQIA+ youth are up 18% since 2021.

Mothers have lost their teenage children after being turned away from crisis centers due to staffing.

And millions of people will have their food access reduced due to SNAP cuts.

His executive order does nothing to bring help where help is actually needed.

This is the pattern.

Find a real crisis.

Blame the victims.

Sign something flashy.

Cut the support.

Then let people suffer, and tell the rest of us it's their fault.

This is what authoritarians do.

The fertility rate in America just hit an all-time low: 1.59 births per woman.

Below the replacement rate.

Below repair, if the trend continues.

And yes, it started before Trump was re-elected.

But it’s his legacy.

His pandemic response.

His economic inequality.

His Supreme Court.

Healthcare costs are up 21% since 2020.

Childcare now costs more than rent in half the country.

And in 21 million women’s lives, abortion is functionally banned.

Amy Coney Barrett said Roe v. Wade was settled law.

Then she helped overturn it.

I almost died from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy.

I had support.

I had a choice.

That choice saved my life.

If I’d been denied that care, I wouldn’t be here.

I wouldn’t have raised my daughters.

I wouldn’t have gone on to become a mother again.

This isn’t politics.

This is survival.

People aren’t avoiding pregnancy because they don’t value life.

They’re doing it because our system doesn’t value theirs.

Because in 34 states, hospitals can deny abortions, even in emergencies.

Because women in Texas have been forced to carry nonviable pregnancies for weeks, risking sepsis.

Because doctors are scared to act.

Because people are being told their lives don’t matter as much as a fetal heartbeat that cannot survive.

To our friends around the world, this must look upside down.

And it is.

We need you.

To witness.

To archive.

To say what we sometimes can’t.

Here’s what helps:

Document the truth.

Save screenshots, clips, and articles. Keep a record.

Speak out if you’re a dual citizen.

Vote. Protest. Remind others living outside the US to vote too.

Tell your story.

If your country survived authoritarianism, tell us how.

Remind us what America meant to you.

Because we need to remember what we’re fighting for.

Hold our leaders accountable when they visit you.

When JD Vance shows up in your country, protest.

Do the same for Trump, or anyone in his administration.

They’re trying to isolate us. Let the world remind them: you’re watching.

Even our satire is fighting back.

South Park just signed a $1.5 billion deal with Paramount.

And what did they do with it?

They shredded Trump.

Mocked his lawsuits.

Mocked his image.

Mocked his ego.

They put him in bed with Satan.

They said out loud what most are too afraid to whisper.

And they did it just days after Trump reportedly greenlit a massive CBS/Paramount merger in exchange for campaign support.

That’s how fascism sometimes ends:

Not with a bang.

But with a punchline.

So if you’re reading this from outside America, thank you.

Thank you for not looking away.

Thank you for seeing us.

Thank you for believing there’s something here still worth saving.

This isn’t normal.

It’s not democracy.

But it’s not over.

We are still here.

Still loud.

Still naming what’s happening.

Not because we expect to win easily.

But because we know what happens if we stop trying.

Please, keep shouting.

We are the firewall.

And we know we are not alone.

We may be standing in the wreckage of the America we thought we knew. But I still believe in better days for America. And you should, too.

Because the people who care still outnumber the ones who want to burn it all down.
