Heather, thank you for your words. I woke up this morning with one thought…how different will the country be for my precious grandchildren? They love to sing, so I have taught them all the song “God Bless America.” Now I can’t sing it with them without crying! I know millions of us are shocked, appalled, and fed up, but will we even get a chance to vote out these bums?
I understand that heartbreak completely. But here's what I hold onto: those grandchildren are exactly why we can't give up.
Yes, we absolutely will get chances to vote these people out. Every election - local, state, federal - is an opportunity to reclaim our democracy. The people in power want us to feel hopeless because that's how they stay in power.
Keep teaching them that song. Keep showing them what it means to love your country enough to fight for it. They're watching, and they'll remember.
