At 1:46 this afternoon, the President of the United States stepped out of the White House to a drumroll and applause as he made his way toward the red, white, and blue ribbons stretched across the pathway to Trump’s new helipad for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. With oversized gold-plated scissors, Donald Trump and two other men, their hands touching, cut through the ribbons together. The entire ceremony lasted less than three minutes, with Donald Trump yelling over the sound of helicopter engines roaring right behind him. Yet not a single word he said could be heard across the live video of the event because, in all of Donald Trump’s wisdom, he decided to ban members of the free press from the White House, and once again, the ramifications of his own actions caught up to him.
This is his extreme narcissism in action. Everything he does looks good from only one point of view: his own. He has no other. But in fact it is not the only one.

Trump is ill and as dangerous as a caged lion who has just escaped. There is a need for everyone to stand firm and repel the danger and not only return said aging and dangerous lion to his cage but make sure it is a secure and padded one.
I love the concept of local summer in the photo of the day. When I was in Ocean City New Jersey, the beaches cleared after labor day and I could walk the spit toward Strathomere in silence.
I know you offer hope every night and sometimes I can’t quite feel it myself. But this - the press taking a stand - is hopeful. May it spread to other institutions that there is no stopping this without unity of purpose and outcome.
