I can’t help but add on to Meloni’s comment that Trump spends time attacking his allies. I cannot grasp why this hateful man is getting away with lambasting roughly 1/2 of his constituency! He’s supposed to be leading the nation, which includes people of all beliefs. Instead, he spends his time typing out hateful messages about Democrats. Why is this tolerated? Oh, I just can’t stand another day of news that has his name in it.

George 111 lost America. By all accounts, he was suffering from similar delusions as trump. This is gonna get real messy.

Just remember that this is all on every single Republican that lives in America. All of this would never have happened had the Republicans not elevated this man to the Presidency twice. Every Republican must be defeated and banished.

Unfortunately the fantasy world he lives in, is also the country we call home. I have no idea what the bottom will be, but we aren't there yet. We the People, will prevail, do not give up hope; that's what he wants.

Ryan's avatar

Yup, we will not give up. We will prevail. Our beloved country will prevail. Democracy will prevail.

Poor deranged convict. He wanted so much to shine in the hall of fame of great statesmen! And he is just piling huge and damn costly failures upon failures, for all the Universe to see and pray he fucking disappear pretty soon. Fuck trump. Amen

The political cartoon, I guess, is Twump in the corner of the reflecting pool, all painted blue except that corner he is trapped in. The thing is, all he has to do is step out of the pool but he is too stupid to realize he has a way out. Or maybe too dumb to know that dumb has a b.

The pool is a metaphor for all the other corners he has backed himself into.

He is fast on his way to becoming a mendacious, overbloated, dimwitted, grifting, corrupt footnote to the Obama Era.

One of Heather's many talents is to notice stuff that others miss—like why he is at Camp David for the weekend given that he doesn't like it, it's rustic aesthetic is not gold-plated. Something significant is going on internally within the administration, and we are left to speculate. Vance's absence may be related. Trump's distractions from governing leaving him time to indulge petty personal grievances may be another. We need to dig deeper.

Chris Kleiber's avatar

Let’s hope he is not there to redecorate Camp David.

Agreed. It seems almost as though he’s been put in time out, or separated from the rest of the MAGA henchmen so they can carry on, and he can sit and pout and be unaware of what they’re doing without him.

Chris G Day's avatar

You’re gonna need to dig a bigger HOLE - for his larger-than-life carcass!!

He’s doing pretty well himself (hole-wise) but he may need a little nudge…

SOMEONE must be able to untie a shoelace, spill some oil or drop a banana skin in his path…

Amazing that Mr Hearn gets arrested for destroying government property while T#ump destroys the East Wing and the south lawn of our house and is walking around free. Two systems of justice

Heather once again many thanks for your diligent reporting. It's hard to know where to begin. First of all I read on the news today that the Strait of Hormuz is closed because of Israel's bombing of Lebanon yet US military insist the Strait is open. Which is it?

As for the debacle over the Reflecting Pool, thus is entirely down to the Dumpkof himself. Just like Hitler he blames others for his own bad decisions. Trump is showing all the signs of a child having a temper tantrum.

Good for Georgia Meloni contradicting Trump's lies, saying she never begged for a photo with him and pointing out that he should concentrate on his own popularity. She must be the first Western leader to challenge Trump's lies.

Writing from Wales, all of this behaviour of DJT reminds of the words of one of our greatest poets Dylan Thomas, who wrote:

“Do not go gentle into that good night

Rage, rage against the dying of the light”.

Please, someone, take away his phone or jam the network, especially at night. Think damage control.

I had that thought too, but then I thought it's better for us to see what's actually happening with him.

“If anything, she is exactly the kind of foreign leader he should want on his side.” But, alas, she is a woman, so no, he has no use for her except to try to bolster his inflated image of himself.

I love the way Trump signs off his Truth Social posts with “Thank you for your attention to this matter”

It explains what it’s all about for this narcissist who NEEDS the attention of his followers to justify his antics. It’s all he really wants (apart from more millions of YOUR dollars to do whatever he wants) so he keeps ranting into the void of the minds of his followers even through the darkest hours.

Must be getting close to a final ‘goodnight’ - we can but hope.

I’ve just realised that, Trump’s playbook is somewhat based on ‘The Mask!’ - He’s just going as far as he can until SOMEBODY STOPS HIM!

WHO is gonna step up and satisfy his call for help? (He sure can’t help himself!)

Someone with a conscience, someone willing to risk their job needs to go to Camp David with a straight jacket. You are right about him being too far gone. He doesn’t even realize he needs help and he has no idea of the damage he has done to himself, to the country (us), and the world. It is going to be very humiliating when he crashes and he will because WE the PEOPLE will see to it come November.

Your reporting, Heather, is a great example of how the Mainstream Media fails in its attempts to inform the American people: They report on the macro level about all things involved with Trump - like the MOU signing, the negotiations failing, the awarding of the no-bid contracts, etc., etc.

All of which are important and which you do as well. What’s different is you shift to the micro level - as you have done here - and show us very clearly by using his very own words how our President is in a state of cognitive decline.

Not approaching it, not maybe or possibly, but actually living it - while all the while being the President of the United States.

History has informed us as to how the wives of Woodrow Wilson and Ronald Reagan stepped in and unofficially ran the affairs of State because their husbands were not functioning well.

Conversely, Melania is maintaining her distance from this national psychodrama playing itself out on the world stage.

I am not suggesting she should step in - far from it, but others need to do something.

Trump’s obsessive rantings about inconsequential iterations of words, his complete fabrication of events, his emotional deregulation and failing health are all well-known signs to friends, family members and healthcare professionals who have witnessed such behavior up close.

How long can the people around DJT ignore their responsibility to the American people and not invoke the 25th Amendment?

I believe others have stepped in to fill the void…Stephen Miller, Susie Wiles, Peter Thiel & a cadre of other Heritage 2025 & right wing zealots. They published their plan and have been implementing it all along. The only thing to speculate about is how much more is going on behind the curtain of secrecy and exactly when the next shoe will drop.

My prediction: they will prop up Dumbo through the midterms & then immediately jettison him for JD.

As Charlie Brown would so eloquently put it: “Arghhhhh!”

All the thousands of people, every man, woman and child who has had their picture taken touching into the green filth of the pond to feel the blue plastic detached from the bottom, should send their pictures to the lawyers defending our ‘Olympic Champion‘ who ‘Made America proud’ before some incompetent goon, came along and tried to blame him for the shoddy job done by his special grifter contractors, on the pool in the failed attempt to ‘Make America Grotesque Allover’. This ‘Proof’ of innocence might expose the true culprit of this incompetence. The whole Poolgate escapade is just another slapstick moment in the entire ‘Trump Show’

Pamela S.'s avatar

Hopefully the judge will laugh the Olympian’s misdemeanor right out of his or her courtroom. How ridiculous.

Once again, let's call a spade a spade: he's mentally unfit. On April 30th, two US Senators (Whitehouse and Reed) published in the Congressional Record a statement by 35 medical colleagues and me expressing alarm over the manifestly erratic mental behavior of Trump, who has sole authority to order a launch of nuclear weapons; no one is authorized to countermand that order once he has given it. This bizarre situation demands two actions: his legal removal from office and removing the world's nuclear weapons from the defense postures of the nine nuclear powers before someone like him stumbles us all into nuclear Armageddon.

Really. What exactly does it take for the republicans in congress to capitulate to reality? We know they sure know how to capitulate, given where we are, with praise still flowing daily to King Feckless from the mouths of many R Congress creatures. But now? Can’t you finally give in to the extraordinarily dangerous reality of potentially total collapse of our systems, alliances, laws that have actually made the U.S. great… that is staring into your vacant eyes? This guy is not, has never been qualified even remotely for this job. Do yours. Impeach.

Are we seeing “Weekend at Camp David”? It seems the fascists behind Trump are probably panicking because he was supposed to last longer than this. After all, it takes time to haul our wealth into private coffers.

Breaking news! President Donald Trump has signed an executive order changing the colors of the American flag to red white and green, effective immediately. “It was time for a change,“ he said. “That ugly blue has been there for years and was really unpatriotic.” He stated that the project to change the reflecting pool color to “American flag blue“ was a temporary distraction and that the “Dumocrats fell for it, hook, line, and sinker.” He called the “American Flag Green” which is somewhere between olive green and pea soup “really gorgeous.“ He said that calling it “puke“ green was “fake news” and that anyone doing it publicly would be investigated by the DOJ and subject to “many years behind bars.“ Vice President JD Vance immediately supported the change stating that the new color was “the most beautiful color I’ve ever seen.“ leading Senate Republicans declined to comment, except to say that they were “studying the matter.“
