Thank you Heather for your tireless work and commitment- if we all feel the effects of the slog through the bogs of Mordor (You can tell by the ring set up at the front gate) I can only imagine that your exhaustion must be reaching your soul.

Also thanks for binging us heartening news!

Knowing that Trump is raging at being told “No” repeatedly on the same day makes me smile - and smile days are few and far between.

So muchas gracias, buena suerte, sigue dando la buena batalla!

Trump is having his toddler tantrum. To be expected. We all should know how to handle tantrums of small children.

Janet Currie's avatar

Well, Trump, someone actually said no to you so, like the child you are, you've thrown your toys out of the pram. Well done to the Judge who ruled against you.

I don't know the state of the Kennedy Centre and whether it needs repairs but I'm willing to bet that the orange Hitler is exaggerating. JFK's famous mantra was: "Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country". A concept that Trump is incapable of understanding.

I used to frequent the Kennedy Center on a regular basis. It is NOT/NOT falling down. It's just not filled with tacky fake gold overlays in every corner, a la Oval Office. Sure, it needs regular maintenance but it's a beautiful building.

John Gregory's avatar

probably the main reason he was going to close the building for two years is that most performers were refusing to appear there under his name and management.

Gordon Reynolds's avatar

Indeed. You have it exactly right. To save face he had it closed down for ‘repairs’.

There are people saying that Diaper Don was stomping his feet in anger… “WAH!!! Why does Kennedy get to have an arts center and I don’t??? Well, I now want my own Cuban Missile Crisis! And I’m renaming “PT-109”to“PDJT-109!”

Melania then spanked him with a magazine and sent him to his room.

Bobby jr is barely a Kennedy.

He just wears a Kennedy skin.

and from the look of him, it does not fit very well.

Heather, Thank you for your service. You make the point everyone needs to remember: legal organizations are doing vital work in the trenches. We can support them with our time and our funding. These are organizations like the ones you cite: Democracy Forward, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, and Democracy Defenders Action. We need lawyers and judges with integrity to protect the Constitution and the rule of law. If we lose these legal battles, we are heading down a very dangerous road. We need to be clear-eyed about this.

Ms. Reese is correct. This situation will not correct itself overnight, once a primary is decided, or a midterm election is won. The Trump administration has been working for at least 10 years to entrench itself and to hijack the will of the people. He tells us he is exercising the will of the vast majority of Americans who elected him by a landslide. His landslide is in his mind only. Polls after the 2024 election showed that about one third of eligible voters stayed home. Of those who did vote, a little over half voted for Trump. This means that roughly 2/3 of Americans did not vote for this. And don’t be discouraged by the many reports of Republican primary wins. Remember, since most primaries are closed, only Republicans or Democrats can vote for candidates in their respective parties. (This must change if we truly want candidates who represent our views and not the views of party leaders.) The clique of Trump loyalists vote for each other. They may not fair as well in the general population. Taking back our government is just the first step. Putting things on the right path to reclaim our shared American identity and dream, rebuilding our relationships will take a lot of hard work and dedication. But, everything else considered, we are Americans. We don’t run from a fight. And we don’t quit until it’s done, period!

Love it when they tell him ‘no’….obviously nobody has ever succeeded in telling him NO….pampered his whole life, he couldn’t make a Fkn bowl of cereal……

Great that these judges are writing 94-page responses against what is plainly a corrupt government. America has always suffered from short term memory loss. It is why we desperately need good history teachers and historians. Especially now, with all of this reporting, there needs to be people to read it, quantify it and teach it. Most of those teachers haven't been born yet, or are still swinging on jungle gyms at recess.

My favorite observation is that Twump "owns" RFK Jr. Aptly put, Heather.

Mike Ruiz's avatar

You make a great point about the need for good history teachers and historians. Americans need to be mindful of the good and the bad about our country’s history. This administration continues to whitewash our history, pretending that certain events never happened or happened in a way that tries to make them look good. January 6, 2021 is a prime example. It is shocking to me that the abject lawlessness that happened that day was seen on prime time TV by the whole world and yet, these criminals were still pardoned by this convicted felon president. As if that wasn’t bad enough, we are now supposed to pay them!!! That’s just freaking nuts! Let’s hope that the courts continue to hold and we manage to make it to November, to get some much needed accountability.

Katy Bolger's avatar

And this administration is quietly whitewashing and malewashing our history as they remove dedications, plaques, and even records from our parks and archives. Such brave men to do such things!

Mike Ruiz's avatar

Ah yes. The malewashing by insecure little men. And it doesn’t seem to matter how much money you have. Just look at Bezos, who has all the money in the world and yet kisses this president’s a$$. So pathetic. I just don’t get it.

Katy Bolger's avatar

Good men do not need a billion dollars (and the pursuit of it). Good men do not pursue trophy wives. Good men do not treat others with cruelty. Good men show young men and boys how to be good men. Good men turn away from false gilded gods. On the other hand, an insecure man needs money to prove he's worth something, he needs a trophy wife to make other men jealous, he needs others to fail so he looks successful, he brags and preens; he has a warm place in hell waiting for him.

Great read, as always. I do quibble about buying into the language of “settlement” of a lawsuit. I appreciate that you pointed out that Trump was on both sides of the case. But there was no valid claim, the statute of limitations had run, and the arrangement was not submitted to the court. I’m relieved that the pushback has come on multiple fronts, including the ire of voters.

Trump’s whining about being treated unfairly would be laughable if he were not so dangerous. I’ve offered this pro tip before: stop breaking the law and the courts won’t have to tell you “no.”

Heather, don’t you want to run for President? 🙏😊

His Highness Oinkus Trumpositus has spoken… uhh, much like a spoiled brat who didn’t get Boardwalk and Park Place. And so the pieces get knocked off the play board, and Trumpolini stomps off to invade Cuba.

All Hail Our Glorious Untergropenfuhrer!!

Thank you for your attention to this matter. OMG

Katy Bolger's avatar

Oinkus Trumpositus! Ben Franklin would love love love that. I think Oinkus should get his rendering done in a woodcut for the $2.50 bill.

But... but... his biouuutiful medical record tells the whole world and beyond that he is in good health and fit to govern. Another blatant fucking lie or what? Even the little green martians are laughing. Ach ach ach. Insane

Paula Mutzel's avatar

He’s basically fueled by envy and jealousy …a spoiled brat who steals other kids toys just because he wants to…he really doesn’t want them.

He hates the word NO because as a child he was told it often which causes all of his outbursts.

When he loses he walks away because to him it’s not the object he wants .. it’s the taking that makes him happy.

He’ll make others fight these rulings using our money but he’ll have no problem just walking away like he did after he ruined Atlantic City.

We have to keep pushing…support the groups and individuals who are bravely fighting him ..they NEED our help and that’s how we can stay involved and as Heather stated…the ticking clock is our friend..anything..everything we can do to stall him is a win..it gets us closer to the day when we can undue much of what he’s done.

There is now a growing group of powerful voices in the Republican Party who are pulling away from him …they now have nothing to lose so his hold on them is over.

That number can grow as he loses a little more each day…that’s a big factor that we have to encourage.

His health report …while unrealistically glowing..was also telling…he has gained 14lbs since his last exam. That should not be overlooked….that’s a significant amount in the period of time it covers and is indicative of a problem…either too much fluid accumulation or side effect from anti depressant medication for dementia. In any case..he is NOT the perfect physical specimen he claims to be and that’s good news.

Hopefully these losses will pile up…the stressors will do their job and the cortisol release will start triggering other physical issues…maybe his most destructive enemy is truly HIMSELF…his own body will be what defeats him….poetic justice.

Yesterday was a glorious day. Trump slapped down hard by three separate court rulings. Oh how delicious. But we know he is scheming as I write this to undermine and subvert these rulings because “winning” is the only thing that matters to him. His fragile psyche is unable to bear the blow that “the great and powerful Trump” sustained yesterday. Yesterday was also revealing. Trump’s name on the Kennedy Center is FAR more important to him than, pick one, the settlement of the Iran don’t you dare call it a war, the price of gas, and the cost of food, and certainly not far reaching concerns such as how AI will impact humanity. This is what America voted for in 2024, a small and petty grievance machine who cares about no one and nothing but himself

Bill Corbett's avatar

Besides three judges telling him no, he has the problem of the Iranians saying no as well. He's between a rock and a hard spot everywhere and I love it but beware of the cornered animal, they become more vicious.
