He’s going to go too far with his humiliation of Vance and Rubio before long and someone is going to snap. Why-ever in the world are they tolerating this? Why isn’t Thiel encouraging Vance to take the proper steps to remove djt from power? He’d get his way with his sycophant in power if he did (to the detriment of the country and the world). Neither Vance nor Rubio look like happy men, from the photos I’ve seen lately.

Interesting that Thiel went to Argentina where all of the Nazis went after World War II.

Most interesting! The U.S. is well rid of him—if he actually stays down there. Odious man!

I do not believe there is a "too far." Cpl. Judy Vance and little marco Rubio have already shown a lack of willingness to push back. They call it loyalty. But loyalty to one man at the expense of the country seems indictable to me. Giving gayness a bad name, Lindsay Graham is the head cheerleader, a position he fought mightily for against those junior cheerleaders, Ted "Senor" Cruz and others. They are all part of this, all of those who could do something and did nothing. There is no distance too far for these men and women.

Good, Heather, for targeting Vance and Rubio with the 25th way out of all this. We need to distinguish sharply between what Trump raves insanely to himself, dreaming what the effects of that are; what everyone else hears and thinks of it; and what will actually happen as a result. What are his enablers who are fathers and grandfathers saying to their offspring about their role in this? Every American outside Trump's bubble has a lot of explaining to do, to everyone they know, about how one man's official insanity is contagious to those around and even against him.

Heather, two things struck me about your post. The first thing is Trump railing against the NY Times article. Does he have the capacity to actually read a newspaper? I think not.

The second thing is that no-one inside the Dumpkof's circle seems capable of contradicting him. I am reminded of a famous quote from Edmund Burke, an Anglo-Irish politician of the 18th century. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing". There is some dispute whether he actually said those exact words but it's very profound.

Similarly, Napoleon Bonaparte said “The world suffers a lot not because of the violence of bad people but because of the silence of good people”.

There may not be any good people around anymore in the White House

My thoughts exactly. They have all been purged, leaving only the evil, greedy ones.

I live overseas & my husband (not American) asked me why someone in Trump's inner circle doesn't intervene & stop this madness. He's asked me the same question regarding representatives & senators. Neighbors have asked me my opinion about the US as they can't believe what's happening. It's frustrating & I don't have an answer. Heather, your daily bulletins, as well as other independent media, keep me informed. Thank you!

Trumpet is a demented loser. And old Lindsey is a very close second.

Is Lindsay Graham the the most disgusting snivelling toady in this present administration?

Not by a country mile he's not.

But fuck me, he's certainly trying hard enough. I hope someone's keeping a record of his offences against the whole country. There will be a reckoning.

There are a lot of young people out there who are not yet parents. My 23 year old grandson is one of them. He, and many others around his age, have checked out. They don't see much of a future and they don't see much point in voting, let alone getting involved. I will continue to try to convince him that change is possible and necessary.

Pam Birkenfeld's avatar

Keep at it. Understand his frustration in hopelessness but he hast to believe that things can change.

JayTay's avatar

Good luck with that Paula, remind him that making as many people as possible overwhelmed to the point of checking out is the whole point of the regimes actions, don't let them succeed .

Remember when Howard Baker and Barry Goldwater told Nixon it was over, he was through? Those were Republicans, not toadies.

As a history teacher, I would tell stories from history and we would all scratch our heads and say: why didn't someone stop (fill in the blank) when they had a chance? And my answer differed from fear to culpability. I never thought we would face this: a despot with his finger on the button and those around him cheering him on. When the books are written and we understand HOW Hogsbreath, little marco Rubio, Cpl. Judy Vance et al et al made money during every crisis in this country. How, as we became horrified, or broke or despairing, they were creating havoc, enabling an insane Twump, and GETTING RICH doing it.

Whenever there is a long fairly intelligible screed posted. I wonder who actually wrote it; whenever it’s a scribbled rant filled with capitals, I know.

Whenever I see the carnage and wreckage of my government and its structures and wonder who caused it, I know.

And when I look forward to our Independence Day, I wonder: a day of celebration or mourning?

Either way, on that day and ever after, I hope that

“…Still, like air, I’ll rise.”
