The good news is that statues can be pushed down (Iraq) and currency can be refused to be used. Trump is very sick but more worryingly the sycophants around him are busy polishing his shoes because the amount of money sloshing around makes them feel strong and in charge. Please rise up and fight.

Today in a pretty hopeless voting day we have lots to think about in UK but we also celebrated the 100th birthday of a truly wonderful man David Attenborough who all his life has protected and talked about protecting the environment and animals that live in it. He is the sort of hero we should admire, not an out and out criminal busy annihilating a wonderful country with is greed and rotten behaviour.

Charlotte I too watched last night's celebration of Sir David's 100th birthday. What a wonderful man, who'll be remembered long after he has gone, unlike the orange buffoon.

Well said, Sir David Attenborough is an icon the whole planet should look up to. I’ve watched his TV wildlife series and read his books. His love for wildlife and the environment shines through everything he does and long may he continue beyond his 100th birthday.

He once said people write and send parcels to him from all around the world, addressed simply as “Attenborough, London” and every postie worldwide knows who it is for. That, to me, is the mark of the love and affection in which Sir David is held.

Then we have the contrast on his 100th birthday of local government elections here in the UK.

Nigel Farage, who pocketed five million pounds from a ex-British multi-millionaire living in Thailand, just before he decided to stand as a Member of Parliament and took the Clacton seat over in Essex. Farage is a mini Trump, believes Trump is his best friend and is a known racist and Fascist. A snake oil salesman who started as a member of National Front, then transited through other parties he formed, including UKIP, the UK Independence Party, the Brexit Party when he was also a member of the European Union’s parliament and actively campaigning for our exit from the EU and its latest iteration, Reform UK Ltd, a limited company which charges its members to join yet they have no voice whatsoever paid up members: Farage as chairman has sole control.

Yesterday the voters gave Reform virtually carte blanche, electing local councillors from Reform a massive turnover from Labour.

Here in Wales we at least had proportional representation to elect our parliament, the Senedd, rather than the first past the post system used in England and Scotland where councillors were elected.

Thankfully Plaid Cymru gained the most seats in our Senedd, beating Reform but not gaining a majority. My own constituency, Clwyd returned three Reform members but will not have an easy time. I will see to that!

Panic not Cath. Reform is getting rebellion votes it won’t carry through to the next election because they are so dangerous to immigrants.

Hopefully Farrage and Trump will fall soon.

I guess those “love letters from Kim” were actually real in his mind all those years ago. Let what is happening in our country be a warning to every country in the world hoping to become or keep their Democracy. Equality for all, over the power of one, will always be a fight.

I am in Rome on a family trip. Yesterday we visited the Colosseum and Roman Forum and listened to stories about emperors and kings and how they built monuments to themselves and I kept thinking about Trump. He is following the same playbook

Enjoy your trip and you’re absolutely right‼️

My husband and I are musicians, and last night we were at a party celebrating our last of the season concert. Every single person there was outraged by what's going on and more determined than ever to fight harder. That gave me hope.

What he’s doing is literally sickening. The Democrats response to what happened in Virginia was weak and foolish. The Democrats have got to learn that these people do not fight fair..they do not follow rules..they literally BULL DOZE anything and anyone who get in their way.

The naïveté of Democrats to think they are going to change is not admirable it’s futile and it has to stop. We are on the precipice of a huge cliff it’s no joke….we’re about to go over.

The people spoke in VA…now even when we SPEAK by our votes they take it away. The people of VA should be OUTRAGED not politely accepting they’ve just been stripped of their will. The Governor and the Legislature must step in.

We have got to fight fire with fire …scream out as loud as ever.

The Democrats have got to up their game..NICE doesn’t cut it with these scofflaws..NICE finishes LAST.

I said the other day not to get mad but to get even…I was wrong…we must get mad…really fighting mad in order to get even…in order take this country back we have to fight them loud and clear on EVERYTHING they do …Democrats must stop rolling over it WILL NOT WORK.

But the essential point has to be made that all these egoistic offenses are expressions of raving lunacy, what we get when our President is insane with pathological narcissism. That is what sets him apart from us, what renders all of this expansively outside the point of legitimate respectable government, and why it will all obviously be undone when legitimacy is restored, which it surely, eventually, will be. Calves are not naturally golden.

trump thinks he is king, but really he is the useful idiot Nazi fascist puppet who is nothing but a narcissistic, sociopathic, serial pedophile and rapist, sex trafficker. He is guilty of TREASON and ultimately an illegitimate president, a Criminal Squatter with his family and enablers gutting and taking over our government.

He was placed by Russia, the Heritage Foundation Project 2025-26 writers, the Epstein Class, technofascists Elon Musk, Thiel, Karp- Palantir. They have gutted and infiltrated our government with sycophantic and complicit Nazi, Fascist, Eugenics MAGA/MAWA, and A.I. technology weapons and technology inside access and control of our government’s top agencies and securities. In addition, Musk and DOGE stole ALL our private information.

IMO, both elections were rigged and stolen from all those groups and people…and here we are, 1930’s Germany on A.I. Steroids, complete with ICE Gestapo and Concentration Camps.

We and Democrats and Independents NEED to act NOW before they finish rigging and causing Civil Discourse and invoking Martial Law to Cancel Elections.

UNITED WE STAND AND DIVIDED WE FALL❤️‍🩹

Good summary of a whole lot of horse poop going down this week. I’d just add that return of a literal monarchy isn’t something I worry about much - there are countries (England, Sweden, Spain, etc) that have “constitutional monarchies” and royals who know their places…what I’m seeing is a dictatorship pure and simple, more like Nazi Germany, Russia, Portugal under Salazar…and while that’s sometimes survivable by a nation with an informed and organized resistance and a strong underground press, the U.S. seems unprepared to overthrow the MAGA minority any time soon.

I hope I’m wrong, and I am working/supporting legal resistance (not giving up either on state or federal judiciary) and progressive Dem candidates in November. But we progressives need to pick up the pace I think.

Jami Craig's avatar

I am genuinely not sure of what I am most disgusted by: Trump and Maga or the despicable apathetic resistance of the country. As someone who has retired from working in government relations for 35 years, and as someone who was literally protesting the Vietnam war when I was just seven years old, I am disgusted and saddened at the same time over the lack of leadership and lack of purposeful and consequential resistance. I don’t know what, exactly, that looks like… But I would follow the fuck out of the right person who understands the country, we all love and would defend to its core, is not immune to falling into a fascist, authoritarian, or dictatorship. For the life of me, I do not understand why more people aren’t terrified of what’s happening. For those counting on midterms, I will tell you this from my experience… don’t assume folks will turn out and droves to vote against these Nazis because the psychological impact they have had on so many isn’t talked about enough. Wearing people down, hoping they’ll just give up and keep their heads down, is a real thing. overwhelming folks with a sense of frustration is a real thing. Giving up is a real form of self-care and self preservation. And it’s easy to justify. We cannot stop what is happening piecemealed. We cannot stop what is happening without serious leadership. That’s what I know to be true. And I am, on many days, disgusted and fucking angry that we don’t have that.

I keep saying the only way to get rid of this man is to help your neighbour and your neighbours neighbour, make sure their paperwork is in place but also that they all get to the polls. Even if it means hiring a coach to get people there. I hat being so far away and no able to help. But this man must not prevail 👺

If you don’t subscribe to Jim Stewartson, you should. he has connected the dots regarding midterms. He said on point this, and it could not be more true: “ it is no longer possible to even pretend elections are about the candidates or issues anymore. Elections have been reduced to the practical question of whether Republicans will be able to successfully steal them. This is not sustainable trajectory for a democracy. It is an out of control 18 wheeler heading towards a wall.” between the Virginia Supreme Court ruling and the gutting of the voting rights act last week, the trajectory seems to be clear. And as Mr. Stewartson pointed out, the same three lawyers who were involved in getting George W. Bush and the White House 26 years ago, voted to gut those voting rights last week.

While Virginia Democrats respect a decision that hinges on a technicality, the Republican Supreme Court makes up new legal doctrine that has no foundation in the Constitution, like the “major questions doctrine” and the “unitary executive “. It’s a lesson in the ruthless exercise of power; a lesson the Democrats seemingly will never learn
