Very early this morning, while most of the country had just started waking up, an interview featuring a sluggish President of the United States was published not even a full day after it was recorded. Filmed deep inside the White House, Donald Trump struggled with slurred speech and to stay calm as he answered questions. At one point, he shared that "a lot of people are saying I'm one of the greatest presidents ever." But mostly he spent those thirty-one minutes building up his defense for when his party loses both chambers of Congress after the midterms, and letting the world know what he really thinks of the Republican Party.
“… what’s being built now in this country has never ever been built.” Time and time again, he states something which is the opposite of reality. The only thing building in this country are his bank accounts, and bitcoins, because everything is being torn down.
I can't decide how much of this is because he's a crook, and how much is because he really does believe his own lies. Both pretty damning conclusions, either likely to result in an effective impeachment.
It’s a combination of the 2..even more than 2 components actually. He is a crook..he’s is greedy..he is selfish and self centered. He has a tyrannical personality that demands that he gets what he wants when he wants it no matter what. His lies ARE his truths because he neither listens to nor believes anyone or anything that he himself doesn’t want to happen or to be true . If he says it or does it..it is SO.
If you’re not with him you’re against him therefore an enemy he must destroy….there is NO middle ground.
But she doesn't go so far as to label him as a psychopath - only clarifies his sociopathic behavior. I'm guessing there are certain lines that licensed clinical psychologists cannot cross there, since "psychopath" is not a clinical diagnosis listed in DSM-5. Nor is "sociopath", for that matter. He is what he is, though, and he's a danger to the entire world in such a position of unchecked power.

They could have stopped this ruinous march into fascism but absolute power - the ring - was too alluring to them.
The Grump Is right about one thing, the absolute moral weakness of the GOP. He knew they were as craven as he is, and that they would eagerly grab for the Faustian bargain he was offering and they would fall for the idea of honor among thieves. And now here we are. The absolute power they thought they had is about to slip from their grasp in November. And the hollow dictator they followed and gave their souls to has now abandoned them in an attempt to save his own skin.
Again, Heather, it’s your relentless detail that gives me hope. I’m not sure why this style of writing and reporting is so different than the numerous opinion pieces by established big gun writers in the journalism super-leagues, but your methodology is more effective than the thicker pros for me.
There’s great work out there but the big news firms seem to take forever to make sense about relatable points. You have a gift of bringing the day home. Too many lawyers and too many lawsuits may be the difference between them and you perhaps. Whatever the reason, you make me miss Christopher Hitchens even more.
Here’s what I think about:
Trump is a serious threat to democracy and freedom around the world because of the power of the Presidency and from what has happened.
It’s getting worse and we need to understand and protect our rights and freedoms.
It’s not a small thing, it’s a big thing of immense importance.
Trump being a malignant narcissist has no respect for any Republicans nor the American people. Everyone is expendable to his ego. His priorities are things… money, gold , monuments which he views as his legacy. He is at base unconcerned about policy, and about the future of our country except for securing his mark on it.
Punchbowl did a really good job with this interview..too bad more reporters can’t hold their ground in the same way. Sherman got him to backtrack and he held him to the questions.
He’s a typical bully..he will fold if he’s stood up to and really challenged…

He revealed a lot more than a new hairdo in that interview …he’s wearing out. He’s losing the war..he’s no longer able to sugarcoat the economy and his vanity projects are blowing up. He wants that ballroom finished and that is now stalled. He’s realizing that he may never set foot inside of it and he’s scared.
His history has always been to walk away..get out the back door while he can and leave everyone else holding the bag. His remarks yesterday are hinting at that now.
He left millions of people in a lurch in Atlantic City years ago ..no reason he won’t do the same now…when things get hot he gets out of the kitchen.
The ballroom is a guise for the bunker underneath. He has no plans of leaving the White House. He will "hunker down" or "bunker down" more appropriately and secure himself with the military. Add to that the hospitality and tourism industry nobody left to do the nasty hard work of washing dishes, cooking and cleaning and waiting on tables or working those fast food lines or changing the linens in those nice hotel rooms. Ah the sectors of individuals no longer available, picking the fields for the needed food to arrive to the grocery stores for all of us to purchase will be getting so much more less. With that the costs of course will even more sky rocket. It’s that capitalism always the need for companies to make the bottom line profit. Let alone the needed fuel for the cars to even get to the grocery stores, or the doctor’s office, the dentist or just plain living.

Here's the problem. Democrats most likely will win the House and maybe the Senate. They'll make lots of promises and people will vote for change, but it won't happen because Republicans will filibuster, Trump will veto, and the Supreme Court 6 will block and tackle. Thanks Heather. It is true…until everyone realizes the incompetence of this president and administration and how he has ruined our reputation in the world and is tearing down our democracy…until the time they all wake up we will not be able to change the course of our country. So people…wake up!!!
Here's the problem. Democrats most likely will win the House and maybe the Senate. They'll make lots of promises and people will vote for change, but it won't happen because Republicans will filibuster, Trump will veto, and the Supreme Court 6 will block and tackle. Come 2028, voters will be fed up and vote for change again and we'll be right back where we are. Something needs to change to break the cycle, but I'm stumped
