At 2:18 this afternoon, Donald Trump stood behind the bright blue curtains at Truist Arena in Highland Heights, Kentucky. He opened and closed his suit coat, threw his hands out in front of him, and walked onto the stage, stopping for a moment to look out at the audience and the scattered empty seats.
When he finally reached the podium, his freshly darkened hair and thick orange makeup accentuated the tired, swollen eyes he was using to read the teleprompter. Yet just seconds into his nearly hour-and-a-half-long speech, the President of the United States made it clear he would not be sticking to the script he had been given. Instead, he would be saying whatever he felt like, starting early in his remarks by telling the people in the room and those watching from home that his second presidential term is more powerful than his first and that he “can do stuff that’s unbelievable.”
He also admitted with a smug and shameless confidence that he likes even the most horrible people as long as they like him, even pointing out himself just how fundamentally flawed his moral compass really is. “I like people that like me. I just like it, and I can’t help it. It’s a character flaw. I mean, I’ve had a couple of people, really horrible human beings, horrible, horrible, terrible people, but I heard through the grapevine they really liked me a lot. So, I like them too.” The crowd laughed, and the strategically placed Trump loyalists behind him had huge smiles across their faces as he said it.
The ‘eating cats and dogs’ trope stood out once for extreme ridiculousness, but now the Jack Smith investigation of red hatted MAGA idiots takes the cake. What utter nonsense. His brain is fried, and we’re all suffering because of it.
He chickened out when it was his turn to fight yet he’s violence obsessed now when it’s others that will do the violence on his orders, I think he’s just evil. He can’t seem to admit that when he breaks the law he will be investigated. He seems to have convinced himself that he’s above the law. I couldn’t make it to a No Kings rally yesterday due to helping relatives dealing with the tRump damage.
He has every character flaw, and proudly displays them all. Like the saying goes, if it wasn't for bad character flaws, he wouldn't have no character at all. Just a hollow shell, rattling around like an empty spray can. Two weeks and change.
I just keep thinking about the muskrat and his satellites and how he rigged the presidential election. Somebody better be keeping an eye on that. Somebody that can disable his bs.
I have been sick and tired of the convicted felon for years. I appreciate your newsletter because you provide a clear, honest account of all the Looney Tunes he says. Mass media continues to whitewash everything, which increases the danger to all of us. Congress and SCOTUS are complicit. No Kings IV was awesome, but I think we protesters need to show up regularly. Robert Hubbell publishes such inspiring photos of protesters while Meta and the media continue to throttle any mention of them.
I ‘shared’ this report with CNN and MSNBC just now, highlighting the worst of it (for me, Russia’s ‘checkmate’ claim) because I am so frustrated that most Americans never see/hear this insane creature revealing daily precisely who and what he is. Why won’t they report the worsening drumbeat of his own ‘campaign’ claims which reveal his insanity (if not actually proving it)? Every Biden gaff was thoroughly reported, so much so that they completely overshadowed accomplishments obtained with a divided Congress. This creature is insane and dangerous, and a free press should be revealing it to everyone (who doesn’t already know it).
Oh Donald, if you only could listen to a recording of your "speeches" and the utter bilge you speak, you should be horrified; but then again..maybe not. You've never displayed any sense of self-awareness.
Heather, I switched on the TV this morning to see if the No Kings demonstrations went off OK. There was no mention of any trouble which I was happy about.
I see that Trump has again backed off in his suit against the BBC Panarama programme. Believe you me, the BBC aren't backing down. So Trump, you'll have to make a decision one way or the other. My money's on the Beeb.

Yes trump is all these demented, sick things but for me the most frightening part is that all the powers that would stop him have disappeared. All the constitutional guardrails have been co-opted. His enablers yield an insane amount of power. The media is bought and controlled by a few wealthy men and corporations whose interests are being served by his greed. The congress has been sidelined and made impotent. The highest court is so compromised and infected by the same greed that it has become a tool for the destruction of our democracy. The USA has never been as perfect as we pretended, but perfection is a goal and we aimed to achieve it. Can we recover? I don’t know. Can we find our way back to the intention of the Constitution? I don’t know. I do know that if we don’t seize this moment and take back control of our country, we may not have another chance.
