A Government Against Its People: Ruling By Intimidation

Martin Luther King Jr. was attacked in his lifetime as dangerous, radical, and un-American, even though his vision reshaped the country and pushed it closer to justice.

The same tactics are being used today, as Donald Trump promotes cruelty at home through ICE raids, dehumanizing language, and fear, while also spreading chaos beyond U.S. borders.

The pattern runs from a naturalized American citizen being dragged out of his home in Minnesota, to Trump publicly praising ICE and dismissing accountability, to a disturbing letter he sent to European leaders saying he no longer feels obligated to pursue peace because he did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize, and threatening U.S. control of Greenland.

These moments show a leader driven by grievance and power, normalizing cruelty and instability while standing in sharp contrast to the legacy of equality, dignity, and hope Martin Luther King Jr. believed America could live up to.
