79 year old Trump insists he's not a senior

and he actually believes it

At a tax day roundtable in Las Vegas, the President of the United States spoke in front of working Americans and told them that “every single American at every income level has more money in their pockets.” He said the economy was “booming.” He was standing in a city that just recorded a 7.5% drop in visitors, the sharpest decline since record-keeping began in 1970 outside of the pandemic. Gas in Las Vegas hit $5.05 a gallon the week before he arrived. The Culinary Workers Union, which represents 60,000 hospitality workers, has a name for what’s happening to their paychecks: the Trump Slump.

A police officer at the table thanked the president for cutting taxes on overtime, then said the extra money was helping his family “stretch every dollar in an increasingly expensive world.” He said it himself, sitting at the table of the man who helped make it that way. Trump’s tariffs raised prices. His war sent gas past $5. His spending bill slashed Medicaid and food assistance. The tax savings he’s celebrating aren’t making anyone wealthy. They’re life rafts in an economy his own policies are drowning people in. And when he brought up this week’s DoorDash stunt he called the whole thing “a little tacky” and “a little embarrassing,” then added, “but we do them and you win by landslides.”

Meanwhile, in Hungary, the man who just defeated Viktor Orbán in a landslide is giving us hope. If 16 years of consolidated authoritarian power can be swept away in a single day by voters who decided they’d had enough, then that’s a roadmap for us to follow.
